Somebody pick up this guy. Seems like a good fit for GS or WKU.

The transfer portal has not been good to Marshall University Athletics in football or basketball.

I feel like this quarterback would have a culture shock coming to the South since he's from the Northeast and played it in northeastern School, seems like the kind of guy that would transfer to Boston College.

Is there a crystal ball for the transfer portal like they do for recruiting?

As far as I know, we have Kentucky transfer Beau Allen, Boise State transfer Colin Fitzgerald, Tulsa transfer JC French and a few other that we signed. This staff seems to have issues developing talent though - no idea who is QB#1 next year.

He'll be a good QB wherever he goes. 20 TD's to 5 INT's, and 62% completion percentage. This guy is going to be a good QB at the FBS level.

Troy has picked up a big time commit from Zeriah Beason (WR / 6'0" / 185). Started his career at Oregon State and Washington State, and now at Hutchinson Community College.

Originally had offers from LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Utah, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Iowa, and others.

I think we're now living in the era where any good young player that we groom is going to want to transfer and prove themselves on the P5 level.

Every good young player on our teams probably thinks they are SEC material.

The days of recruiting your own players come at redshirting them and keeping them in your building for 5 years is over.

I don't know why some coaches insist on building their teams that way, relationship building recruiting coaches are the only ones that are going to thrive in the portal years.

It gutted Marshall's basketball team this year as our super freshman center transferred to Florida, it has been a gut punch.

Why? He wants to play in an Air Raid style offense which Will Hall can give him.

Georgia State's had several starters declare for the portal, including Marcus Carroll and Jontrey Hunter.

At this rate, what is the point?

I have a feeling that these portal windows are going to mean the musical chairs stop sooner and a lot more people are going to be left without a seat.

The NCAA, also known as the group of University's who devise, vote on, and enforce rules, need to enforce tampering rules as well as expand those rules to include any contact by anyone ON BEHALF of another University.

Backdoor contact shouldn't be a loophole left open. Nothing will change until it happens to Alabama or UGA and they ***** enough about it to make people go "oh, I didn't know that was happening".

It's tampering, for which NFL teams would be subject to fines and loss of draft picks. So if they want an NFL model, any evidence of tampering including Through backdoor channels should be met with postseason bans, loss of scholarships, and monetary fines that will be provided to the offended University as compensation.

I would also say University's that lose players through illegal communications should have grounds to sue because monetary damage has occurred in the loss of an investment as well as potential future loss in revenue if performance is impacted.

It's a **** show. That's what it is. I'd be inclined to bring back the one year sitting rule. Let NIL stay but the one year sitting period should return. Not to dissuade players from transferring but schools from tampering.

I also hate this for Georgia State because you guys are always hit especially hard on this for some reason. You'll never be able to build a program if every decent player you recruit leaves after a year. It's like Shawn Elliot literally has to start anew each and every year.

At one time you just had coaches leaving so you played bowl games with a crippled coaching staff. Now you could still have the coach leaving but way more likely some of your best players are out. All of a sudden a good team isnt. With this going on why even have a postseason. Portal should not open until after bowl season.

I agree. Its stupid to have the post-season bowl matchups with teams that aren't even close to the same teams that won enough to earn the bowl. It'd be like having basketball players all transfer in the first week of March and still out March madness. If I were Georgia or whoever, Id just offer the best players on whoever team they face in the playoff millions to transfer. Then they get a weaker opponent to face for the championship. Sooner or later we'll have a team in the playoff with a heisman winner on it, that will play the bowl without said heisman winner due to them taking millions to transfer somewhere. Ridiculous
