Fans who knew he stinks shouldn’t have to foot the bill.
Admin better not dare beg money now to buyout a bum from a contract they gave.
I feel the same way. It was easy to see that was a bad contract and for too long. Someone should be held accountable for all these bad contracts we sign. Jones, Aramark, Selig… we shaft ourselves.

Didn't know this screw up was extended until 2028 why in the world would they extend him? If Hemphill has any part in this crap his head should be on the platter too. We are our own worst enemy sometimes. This is just criminal and some one should pay for this disaster.

Im pretty sure Hemphill awarded this extension to Wood, so yes, I do agree. Our university has made some bad contractual decisions.
I will give you another one- I think switching to Under Armour was a mistake too. Most universities use Nike for their branding for uniforms. My old Nike football jerseys that I have fit better than my current Under Armour ones do. Speaking of, the school needs to get lined up with Under Armour and come out with player football jerseys. Other schools have jerseys for sale with player names on the back of tbem. Why cant we?

Under armor came through with a way better deal than Nike, and in my personal experience (albeit in MD) kids like UA as much or better.

UA HQ is in Baltimore. There might be some hometown influence there but I would say in general they are on equal footing with Nike.

Yes and I do believe in uniform curses too. Im sick of our uniform scheme right now (minus the Hudson blue uniforms and racetrack helmets). Its time to ditch the chefs hat logo and go back to the VA ODU logo. Or go back to the logo that has the lion on the helmet (think VT 2018 helmet). I think our chefs hat ODU logo is very boring and uninspiring.

Yes. But it is the one that says ODU in the most legible way for tv, and that’s important.

Saves me money. Now, I can watch most ODU games (football & basketball) on TV and turn it off if things get out of control. I’M not sure if President Hemphill did any research on Wood’s last 10 years of mediocre, when he gave him that healthy pay raise. Maybe, he not really into sports revenue. President Runte was and Jim Jarrett, except Jim didn’t want football and that was his Down fall. He was heavily enveloped in getting the basketball arena built.

Both of those helmets were god awful. I know they have their fans but they are my least favorite helmets we've ever worn. I'm personally glad we went away from them

RE: The Pride of ODU NIL Collective
NIL question. Could a school like ODU offer multi-year NIL contracts to players. Like a player signs an NIL agreement with the collective for $40k per year for 4 years. But there is a buyout attached to it, so if VT or someone comes along in a year or two and snags him, they have to pay us for the remaining years? That would also help coaches know if recruits are committed to the program or just looking for dollars before they sign.

RE: The Pride of ODU NIL Collective
Flip it around. If the collective signs a 4 year contract and the kid is a bust, do you buy him out?
I'm thinking year by year is most reasonable.
