I don't think we'll have a problem. Vandy looked bad.

They hit some desperation 3s at the end because they took so many of them.

The announcers said Vandy has the 10th youngest roster in college basketball.

Yeah, can't read too much into early season games.

During the game the announcers talk fluff every so often.

I didn't realize 1. Presbyterian College is in the middle of nowhere South Carolina, and 2. their enrollment is around 750 students.

Also, either Vandy is getting a new stadium or they're getting a major upgrade on their existing stadium. I assume the 2nd.

Yeah... upgrades.

How Vanderbilt football will play in FirstBank Stadium amid construction in 2023, what fans need to know

I also didn't know that Vandy has a female AD.

It's about a thousand now, but year small school and they sponsor a ton of sports somehow.

RE: Future Opponent: Vandy
From a fan of about 50 years of both Vanderbilt and Memphis:

I watched the bulk of the Vandy vs. Presbyterian game on TV and it was a disaster for the Commodores. Worth noting: We were without three key players: Tyrin Lawrence, our best player/top scorer from last season; Ven-Allen Lubin, a 6-8 Notre Dame transfer who is expected to start; and 6-11 center Lee Dort, who might start and, if not, be in the nine-man rotation. Eight VU players who saw action (of 12 who played total) last night are either freshmen or sophomores.

No excuses — but perhaps an explanation as to why the bad play. Our 3-point and free-throw shooting were horrendous last night, as was the defense.

Full props to the Blue Hose for the win. Presbyterian was the better team.

All this to say ... Memphis should beat Vanderbilt, and handily. Even with the three missing players, Vanderbilt simply doesn't offer the talent of the Tigers.

As to the Vanderbilt football stadium project, it will be a major upgrade and not (in the true sense) a fully new stadium.

Go Tigers and go Commodores

COGS

The "Blue Hose" name derives from the early 1900s, when sportswriters referred to the Presbyterian College sports teams as the “Blue Stockings” because of the blue socks (or hose) they wore.

What will you do if Memphis beats Vandy, and in what way will the "woo-hoo girls" be involved?

The game will present a challenge, of sorts, as I strongly root for both UM and VU. I want Memphis to win for my 92-year-old father, a Memphis State College student and athletics trainer during the 1950s who bleeds Tiger blue. I'm sure he ranks among the oldest Tiger fans in the nation. He watches every televised UM football and basketball game in his special-needs chair.

But my father loves Vanderbilt, too, as the university hospital likely saved his life in 1931 (he was born prematurely) and he later worked as a teen during Vandy football games in the 1940s selling concessions. His son teaches at VU and one of his nephews is a student at the university. Years ago, my mother (who attended Memphis State College in the 1950s) and I worked part-time at VU. We have five other relatives (four deceased) with a work/student history at Vanderbilt.

Our family loves both the Tigers and 'Dores.

If the Woo-Hoo Ladies are involved in any pre-game or post-game events at Club Dazzle, let's just hope nobody gets arrested.

04-cheers

Vandy had three starters out with injuries. They are better than what they showed but .... Woof.

Excuses are valid when they aren't applied to the Tigers. Carry on.

Ok.

It was a cheeky statement. If we were to drop a football game, even if we were down several starters, this board would erupt with threads asking everyone to grab their pitchforks. Personally, I think missing key players is an absolutely valid excuse.

That's not a game Vandy should have lost - even with the missing players - but missing the players didn't help. As I said .... Woof!

I saw Pink Floyd in their stadium way back in the 90's. What a great show and it was a decent enough venue for that event.

Pink Floyd played there? How?

As a kid growing up in the Southern Baptist church, we'd have annual retreats to Nashville and would meet in that arena.

Even as a kid I realized how messed up that build was. You couldn't walk around the seating area because of those massive pillars in the corners. Really weird setup.
