Is this ACC pseudo-rivalry week?
Looking around the schedule this weekend, they’ve got:

Miami at Florida St
Pitt at Syracuse
NC St at WF
Duke at UNC
GT at Clemson

That’s a lot of primary and secondary rivalries and even the other 2 games this week sort of follow the pattern: VT at BC (former BE foes) UVA at L’ville (former protected crossovers when L’ville inherited Maryland’s spot).

I reckon so. I wonder if it was intentional to have all of these secondary rivalries converge in the same week?

Interesting! They're all former protected crossovers from the division era except for the NC-4.

ACC strategically downplaying their rivalries knowing the collapse is imminent?

I guess anything's better than thinking about that 1-5 Big XII record, eh?

Yeah, I would call them secondary rivalries, with the exception of Miami vs FSU.

But except for that game, they are in a national sense very low-wattage games. I'm not even sure the fan bases of most of these schools care all that much, even though I am sure some of them, like Wake vs NC State, must have been played for many decades.

The ACC is just weak on this, because of the historical basketball focus, and the grafted on franken-expansion. IMO, Pitt vs Syracuse still looks ike a Big East game.

Yes though they would be better served moving these games to SoCon Saturday to counter program the SEC

The Clemson vs GT game should be fun. Both teams come in at 5-4, GT has found a niche on offense with a run heavy attack and big plays from the forward pass. Clemson has the best D in the ACC.

UNC vs Duke will also be a very good game. They play for the Victory Bell trophy and both teams are solid. If Riley Skinner plays I give the slight edge to Duke.

I wouldn’t be surprised if all the ACC rivalry games, save the 4 against SEC teams, get moved away from the final week, in an effort to spread out the league’s most attractive match ups.

The G5 and Big 12 have already abandoned a traditional rivalry week. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ACC is next.
