Completely agree about the bare cupboards, and without a meaningful NIL deal the new coach will need to recruit quality high school athletes, take some chances with transfers, and fans will have to be a bit patient.

This NIL and the Portal have radically changed college football. Schools are now buying teams? Schools can now grab a good player from one school to the next with a better NIL deal - especially from the FCS ranks over to the FBS? Then there’s the continuing reorganization of the sport for the money. Will ETSU and all its peer regional institutions survive all this after being driven into bankruptcy?

I think that is a good point about regional peer institutions. We are not alone as there are many schools in the same boat and many within the State of Tennessee that are in the same boat as ETSU. There is safety in numbers and we should closely follow what other similar schools are doing and, most importantly, do NOT do what they do NOT do.
