2023-24 WBB Thread
I didn't see a women's hoops thread for the season and wanted to start one after last night's opener.

I hope it was just example of a relatively new team learning to play together, but WOW, what a terrible showing.

Single-digit scoring in multiple quarters... shooting 25% from the floor... getting almost doubled in rebounding... abysmal from the free throw line...

Another showing or two like this one and I'm just out on the team. If they can't show anything more against Georgia Southern and SIUE, the Michigan game may be where I call it quits on WBB for the season.

Why did we bring Castro back? We should have hired a new coach after last season.

We have gotten rid of far more competent coaches in the time that it has been clear to see that Castro is not the right person to be the head coach.

I won't go so far as to blame Emoni but he was no help whatsoever in this particular game! Shame.

Neither of you is showing much comedic talent here. Just sayin'.

Our women's basketball team, however, just GOT BLOWN OUT AT HOME BY A HORIZON LEAGUE TEAM WITH SIX TOTAL WINS IN THE PAST TWO SEASONS BY THIRTY POINTS! That is indeed comical from an EMU standpoint.

I also was very disappointed in the play or lack there of in this case. I bigs were faster but lacked the ability to stop. Our bigs were bigger but can't jump nor block out there bigs. We kept trying to force it inside even thou our bigs could barely hit the back boards with their put backs even when they did get them let alone rebound. Our back court was little better but they tried they just lacked the quickness to create anything. But the obvious plan was to get inside and when that didn't work our outside shots wouldn't fall. I've seen worse games not many but I hope it will get better. Because Castro was given the rules as all the other's coaches. Win or move on. 07-coffee3

Another loss for the women although they signed a recruit this past week with the only scholarship they had open.

I normally dont pay attention to women’s sports but it’s time to move towards another staff and give them 3-5 years.

It is past time, quite honestly.

I don't know what admin has seen from Castro over time to make them think he deserved anything beyond his initial contract.

They plateaued as far as talent goes a few years ago and have progressively gotten worse. Meanwhile, players that he ran off have gone on to succeed elsewhere.

The women lost to North Dakota St yesterday and now 1-4 and have three games this week. Looking at the scores the team has not really been competitive in many games this year so far. Ouch.

Look how bad we got beat by Michigan.

Now look at how bad Toledo beat Michigan.

The Rockets are the class of the MAC for sure, but it puts into perspective just how far away our WBB program is in year EIGHT of Castro. It would be one thing if it felt like we were building towards competing at the top of the league, but those days have passed us by.

At this point I don't even have confidence that we'd be favored over Saginaw at the end of the month.

I'm just sitting here, waiting for superfan to weigh in on the wbb team's struggles. Holy moly, they're bad! I think it would be a good time to fire the coach and let an interim coach take it the rest of the way this season. A team this bad could soon have defection issues.

It's been bad since Jenna left. No point guard to speak of since then. He went big and the bigs aren't any good.. 44 is less than 30% on layups. They keep forcing the ball inside and bigs are not producing. No fall back players to speak of. Very sad state of affairs really. Hard to watch.07-coffee3
