Does not appear to be any changes. Brown and Z still not listed on depth chart.

Does anyone go to the Fattys coaches show? Are fans allowed to ask questions and that there? Would love someone to finally ask a couple questions that put hammock in a hard spot about a lot of the decisions and what they exactly trying to run on offense.

What happened to Brown? Have we figured who the suspended players are?

Brown is injured. Suspended players? No names have been released, surprising you think they would release for gambling purposes.

Hammock noted is his press conference that it was a "team failure" so he wasn't singling anyone out even though 3 were were suspended.

RE: Game Notes - Ball State
During the CMU telecast I saw a CMU player after the whistle, after a tackle, get up from the pile by either stepping on or pushing up off his knee which was on the side of a Huskie ball carrier's helmet. I was surprised and not happy that the refs did not call a penalty, but I figured they just missed it. I was also surprised that no NIU player was upset by this enough to step in and at least get in the CMU player's face right then and there. I give them credit for not doing it, so as to not draw a penalty. I suspected, when I saw the post game melee, that some NIU players took numbers and went to straighten things out after the game.

From memory, I thought the offending CMU player was number 86. But on the online roster 86 is is a tight end. So, 03-confused

Maybe the play I saw was a special teams play, since 86 does play on special teams. Or maybe I got the number wrong. But I did see the play.

I think Ester and an at least -1- OLineman and maybe Brown were involved, but not sure. If -3 starters are not going to play, that would effect the betting line. BTW, I did not see anything from either team that warranted a suspension.

I don't think Antario Brown (if that's the Brown you are talking about) was involved, I noticed him around the 30-yd line shaking hands and talking to CMU players. Antario was also just on the Ball State preview episode on Huskies on Tap and there was no indication about him being involved.

RE: Game Notes - Ball State
Sounds like a bad matchup for us. Their strength on O is the running game - their QB has more rushing than passing yards. Our weakness on D is the running game. Their strength on D is against the run and we rely on our running game. This sounds like a low scoring slug-fest (so long as we don't give up more than 300 yards rushing again). If Rocky has a good game passing that would be a huge plus and could change the whole game. I have a sense that it may come down to the last drive in the 4th quarter. I used to have faith in Rocky in that situation - not much now. Since we still don't know who the three suspended players are there is that concern also. This looked like it should be an easier W - after reading about Ball State I am concerned now.

I hope our guys come out hungry and ready, unlike in the 1st half against CMU.

As always, GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

RE: Game Notes - Ball State
Looking at the release really hammers home my main problem with this staff…they can’t develop a QB to save their jobs. Do you know a major reason why? They don’t give them snaps. We play out the string with old broken rocky.

If rocky needs to come out we play some dumbed down versions of a high school run heavy offense. I can’t take it. Sometimes you have to let kids play, make mistakes, learn, and play again.

Going in to the off season praying for a QB transfer is *a* strategy, just not a good one.

Let Kidd see what the field looks like. A low impact week night MAC game isn’t the worst thing for these kids.

Agree with most of what you said, longer term, but we saw a slew of QBs last year when Rocky went down. Hammock & Co. tried the approach of letting guys play instead of picking one and sticking with the choice. So I would add inability to assess a QB as well.

IMO this staff is looking at 3 games to get bowl-eligible, and that's the carrot they're chewing on for this team to have momentum for next season. The risk of going 5-7 may be a big factor. The flip-side risk is that except for Lynch and maybe Cremascoli, some of those younger potential talents might say they'd get a better chance elsewhere. Playing FCS might seem better than not playing at all. There goes QB depth if their next new "dream guy" doesn't work out or like Rocky gets hurt.

But that more proves my point than goes against it. Without giving some of these guys snaps you are forced to throw them out there with a terrible playbook.

I hate Hammock’s view on offense. He doesn’t get it. It isn’t going to be fixed. I really liked the Hammock hire, but he has some things that are just broken and he can’t be successful unless he changes.

RE: Game Notes - Ball State
I don't see how playing any of the other QBs when you need to win 2 of last three games to be bowl eligible helps them achieve that goal.

None of the other QBs on the team has played an entire season to truly develop them and find out what we have but we've seen all of them (except Kidd) play multiple games and they have not looked good. Meanwhile other MAC teams have backups come in against us and play well (like Akron last season). Miami just had their backup play vs Ohio and they beat Ohio easily. WMU has a backup QB in Wolff playing well. Toledo's backup QB could easily be their starter and is good.

Maybe Kidd can be a starter but the rest of them should continue to stay backups. I don't see them even being starters at the FCS level, unless the starter gets injured.

So ... we should dump all but Kidd, who hasn't played, and Lynch, who ain't goin' nowhere, and continue to rely on a staff that can't assess and cannot up-coach QBs? Well ... surprise, surprise! NIU's illustrious OC Eric Eidsness is also QB coach. Consider that how you will.

I already said the goal of this team is to get bowl-eligible. That's all there is. And I agree with it, because that's all there is. The issue of QB depth is a whole 'nother ball game.

Agree with this. We will need big plays or I also expect this to be tight. If it’s run vs run with neither team passing effectively they may even have the advantage with the extra weapon. Their QB has legit take it to the house speed, I watched most of their last game. In theory our passing game is much better, however inconsistent and hard to count on, especially if we are getting stuffed on 1st. Hopefully we return to Akron/Ohio level of play all around.

Benching Rocky right now makes less than zero sense. This team needs to make a bowl game.
