College GameDay 11/18
We just missed out on GameDay against ODU.

If we take care of business against UConn as we should, we will be squarely in the mix for GameDay against App

Our competition will be:

Georgia at tennessee (the favorite today in my mind)
Washington at Oregon state

That’s probably it.

Don’t see any other games that would be of interest to ESPN.

Next week, Tennessee is at Missouri. Need to root like heck for Mizzou.
Oregon state hosts Stanford.

If mizzou wins, I think it will be another agonizing choice for ESPN to choose between us and Oregon state,

They have the conference issue, we have the bowl/ny6 issue. Both compelling stories.

But make no mistake, today we are a top 3 candidate that week.

We need to let them know on social media if we want it or not. Our tweets, etc helped us in the past. It can help us again.

College GameDay 11/18
I might be in the minority here but the last thing this team needs is a Game Day distraction.

I was thinking the same thing. It could be difficult for the players to keep their attention and focus concentrated on the opponent amid the media madness. Cig does a masterful job of keeping the team's collective energy and emotion on an even keel, but GameDay is a distraction that I'm sure he would rather not have to deal with.

Would definitely challenge the team's focus that week.

The potential upside is it could bring even more pressure on NCAA. All of this will escalate either way the more we keep winning. More pressure on the kids, and more pressure on NCAA. The stakes are rising.

They’ll be able to handle it.

You can’t say no. Too much publicity for the program.

Hope that Game Day stays away from the Burg Nov 18... Dont need that additional distraction now. Just need to win out and let the chips fall where they may. Just keep winnnnnning!

Understand the distractions concerns. Also need to balance that with the exposure for future recruits, donors, etc.

We've got more exposure than we know what to do with. Don't know how the hype train could go much higher. Every game is selling out.

It would be fun, and maybe give ESPN a nice platform to rant about our post season eligibility some more.

RE: College GameDay 11/18
I trust Cig who has been hammering in their head for 4 months “don’t get distracted”.

A lot of the roster remembers being down 28-3 to App last year.

A lot of the roster remembers the letdown of losing to GS last year after getting ranked. I am not worried in the slightest about distractions. I think at that point this team says, we have 2 more games to finish a perfect season. Especially for the seniors, they could only have 2-4 more games left in their careers - like Green, Kromah, Reggie, the safeties & rovers (sans Thomas), etc.

This is a light at the end of tunnel moment. I fully welcome CGD, especially if it helps them get a CCG and NY6 with pressure on the NCAA. Heck Gill& presidents could parlay a SBC CCG eligibility announcement to build goodwill to be the “good guys”. Not holding my breath but no other SBC will be NY6 at this point anyway. Just let them play either way.

Bring it on. We don’t have Lee Fitting to beat the drum for JMU at ESPN anymore, but several people involved in CGD are still there. Their positive experience and good ratings he last 2 times could play in our favor this time and there is certainly a store to tell about the NCAA ban on postseason play along with JMU’s best ever start for a transitioning FBS program.

CGD has to fill 3 hours will compelling ncaa football information and this situation is ready made for it.

The show generally draws 2 million+ viewers which is way more than a toilet bowl appearance. If you want pressure applied to the NCAA, this is the biggest way to do it on a large media platform.

Yeah this is the only game I can’t make this year due to the F1 Vegas race….really hope this doesn’t come to fruition from my selfish perspective.
