No Bueno for those of us with no defense.
Good for Army, though. They’ll probably have more televised games than all of us.

Definitely can’t wait to make the trip up to WP and mark off the bucket list. Im going to be able to mark Annapolis off the list in a couple weeks!

weird for Army/Navy to be non-conference and essentially meaningless to the regular season. The date doesn't even seem to be that strong of a tradition--surely some compromise could be made to move it a couple of weeks?

I can assure you it isn't meaningless. I've been to a couple of Army-Navy games, and I can tell you it's special, and that needs to be preserved. Especially in the midst of the madness that is college football right now. As for the date, they have a very lucrative contract with CBS to play that game the weekend after the conference championship games every year- they're the only game on TV that day. The clunkiest part of this would be if they were to play for the conference championship. Play each other back-to-back weekends, once in the AAC championship game, then the following week in America's Game. But I think everyone realizes the odds of that are pretty slim, so take the chance. I'm excited about it. I didn't get to go back in the day, I was in school and then right after I graduated when Army left, and didn't have a pot to piss in, much less the ability to go to West Point for the game. Jumping at the first chance we play them up there. I, too, will be in Annapolis is a couple of weeks and looking forward to it.

I think they played on the last day of the season like everyone else until CBS offered them a bunch of money to move it to Heisman Saturday. I agree it will be weird for two teams to never play each other in conference.
What will really be weird is if they finish 1-2 in the conference (highly unlikely) they will play two weeks in a row.

I didn't say it was meaningless entirely, it's just meaningless to the outcome of the regular season which now as conference members in the same conference means something
What does it say about the conference when it's just shrugged off as "well, they're neither going to be good enough to ever get to the championship game so who cares". What's even the point of a conference, then

When they announced we were moving to the AAC, Navy was my first pick that I circled for a road trip. I’ll be going there in a couple weeks when we play. Now, my next top pick will be Army.

IF they simply slide into SMU's schedule...we would play at West Point next season.

Good luck with that. Ain't gonna happen, and you can bet it was written in stone before Army joined.

I'm not even saying Army-Navy has to take 100% of the change. You're taking another independent off the board, the entire college football enterprise could maybe wiggle things around a week and split the difference. I don't have a good option in mind, other than it's silly to have a non-conference conference game

It's a home game for me and I'm sitting in Section 26.

Imagine if we add Dayton and VCU for Basketball. We would be an elite basketball conference.
