Agree. I thought it was going to happen for sure after AK's comments last pre-season.

The mantra of a UAB fan. By the middle of everyt disappointing football season, we're just waiting for basketball. By the end of every disappointing basketball season, we're waiting for football to start.

Ready to get this party started. Looking forward to this team, upgraded conference foes, and kicking some butt.

CBS has us at 64, which I think is about right. Could be anywhere from 40-80 I think, depending on how the team gels. There are a few teams on the schedule also on there:
Furman: 96
North Texas: 86
Tulane: 85
Drake: 59
Clemson: 40
Memphis: 27
(Potentially) Maryland: 23
FAU: 15
Not bad.

One of my bigger disappointments from last year was how Butta went from a real deal contributor freshman early to sorta disappearing later. I hope he takes a big jump this year

That’s true. He didn’t even play in six games from Feb. 2nd onward, and never took a free throw after Jan. 21st.

I think Toney Toney kind of took buttas role at that point.
I wouldn’t read too much into that. We had a glut of players last year at the guard and small forward position. The fact that butta got a major opportunity as a freshman and didn’t fall flat on his face is a big deal. He showed he can play at this level.
We really need consistent outside shooters, so I hope butta keeps improving his shot. He has size for the guard position and can defend and rebound too. I think He will have a good role this year

Facebook memory of last year's Tipoff Event popped up today ... hate UAB didn't do this for 2023. I loved the event, and the Full Moon BBQ buffet was amazing, obviously.
Surely it was a success? (And maybe that success explains why we didn't do it again this year.)

If I remember correctly AK’s reasoning behind no kickoff season event was that the season doesn’t have a clear start day every year and preseason tournaments and suck muddy the waters. I’m not sure how that is relevant at all. Especially this year. Do it a week before the Bradley game

That’s a pretty dumb reason just to be honest.
Just do it before the first home game, or before the exhibition game, or a set date before the first game every year that doesn’t conflict.
If AK wants to flirt with other jobs and act like a big shot coach and supposedly demand the NIL stuff and butts in seats behind the scenes, why isn’t he out recruiting students to come to games, out recruiting loudly for the program, etc. if you’re the big time guy be the big time guy and help make something happen; don’t cry behind the scenes.
Just my 2 cents

I agree, been wondering the same thing.
Also I hope we bring all 7 jerseys back.

As a disclaimer, I like Kennedy, want him to stay long term, and want him to be as successful as possible. I also think he is a good coach, bordering on really good.
All of that is why i was admittedly pretty butt hurt around the WVU situation.
And you are a fool if you believe mark Ingram when he said there was “no contact between WVU and Kennedys agent.” How dumb do you think we are mark?

That's definitely the UAB motto, in all things athletics at least.

I remember that comment.
