IARP closes KU case
3 years probation, no additional penalties beyond those previously self-imposed.

Except 2017-2018 15 wins vacated, as well as the Final Four appearance, due to player deemed ineligible. Plus prior self-imposed penalties. But, yes, it is done.

Q: Who's likely the #1 ranked team for the new MBB season?

Yes - I’d posted the original before the vacated wins part was mentioned. I’ll admit that I’m mildly annoyed that the NCAA could clear him not once but twice and later levy an additional penalty aside from the time he’d been out at the time, but ultimately they did so and there’s little point in complaining.

That FBI investigation was hyped as an earthquake-esque story in 2017, and turned out to be a big nothing-burger quickly forgotten.

I've been curious as to why the full story was not released immediately. I mean, we initially read that it was three years' probation and were ecstatic; then a few hours later we learned of the vacated wins and loss of FF. (I'm still keeping and wearing my FF ballcap). I guess the vacating of wins was to mollify Emmert, since his case would have been laughed out of any non-kangaroo court. Some Phog posters wondered whether Pat Forde (a Mizzou grad) had been trolling us by not releasing the whole story. Who knows? Maybe he wrote the story before receiving the entire report.

KU Hearings is posting some interesting information about the whole process. Part 1 out already, part 2 supposed to come out soon and be even more interesting. If he’s right, a very convoluted story of competing interests at the NCAA.

Looks like Louisville should have hunkered down instead of running Pitino off. We’ve seen what a completely clean program gets them.

Well, it's long been known that the NCAA is in Nike's pocket. KU gets 5 Level I charges when Zion went to Duke and his family lived in a mansion owned by Jeff Capel (apparently, that's not an impermissible benefit b/c non athletes have availed themselves of the same living quarters), but Duke did get to investigate themselves. ??? KU and L'ville are the highest profile adidas schools. So . . .
