Tunnels. I don't understand how tunnels cannot be detected. There will be noise from digging. And I would think you could get a few Texas oilmen over there to map everything. A little G&G.

Im not sure they are as easy to detect as one might think. They are discovered on our own border with Mexico---usually as a result of someone spilling the beans on the location--not because we detect them.

???Do you expect competence from OUR border security??? I expect it from Israel.

I just don't see how they can return to the status quo in Gaza after this. This is going to be really bad for the Gaza civilians.

If you consider yourself a civilized country with a civilized leadership you don't ethnically cleanse anybody. That's pretty much out of the question. Not everybody is on board with Hamas who lives in Gaza. But at the same time removing the Innocence from the guilty isn't going to be "easy enough." In other words, you can't go in and instruct all the non Hamas to line up over here and Hamas to line up over there and then March all those innocent civilians out to God knows where. there's no place to go..,. Which itself is not a minor issue. It's more like showing up at an apartment fire and the people who are occupying the apartment are trying to mow you down with uzis while you try to put out the fire. That doesn't sound easy and likely not even possible.

Israel is dealing with extermination. I'm reminded of a couple of Star Trek episodes. In one where aliens had no concept of good and evil and pitted Kirk, Spock, Sarek and Lincoln vs. 4 infamous evil characters. Afterwards they told Captain Kirk they saw no difference. Both used the same weapons and methods. Kirk answered, "What did you offer them to do this? You offered me the lives of my crew." There was a DS9 episode where the Federation was under siege by the Dominion and there was a lot of hand to hand combat. Quark the Ferengi made a comment that these nice civilized humans could be as vicious as any Klingon when they were hungry, tired and scared. The Israelis find themselves in these situations.

Desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Don't be fooled. All of life is a fight for survival. Peace is obtained when there is strength to repel aggression. The strength necessary for Peace comes from a strong sense of community. Something I find lacking in the United States in 2023. We had community in the 60's, even the 70's though Viet Nam changed it a bit. Somewhere in between then and technology's invasion community broke down. And with it came the drugs, the predators, and a level of violence that cowed too many local police. It crept in with Federalism. Only the Feds who wanted to control those who controlled the crime didn't do anything to remedy the problem, just stop those who prevented it. It's called corruption.
