Maybe too much so - more cheerleader than broadcaster.

It seemed like almost every time he called where a pitch was - inside, outside, high, low - based on the "Strike Zone" box he was wrong.

And that most of what he was saying otherwise was just parroting the analysts.

I read online somewhere awhile back Tiger broadcasts were near the bottom in MLB rankings.

Hopefully he lands on his feet in the radio-TV industry.

Shep was AWESOME in his "in the stadium" role. Jonny Kane alluded to leaving on his twitter during miggy's last game, wonder if shep goes back? He just doesn't have what's needed to be a good PBP guy.

I always liked him. He is a proponent of the MAC when he was on sports radio. But ballys is garbage. I mainly listen to tiger games on radio now or watch highlights for free on YouTube.

Shep is a solid reporter, and a great guy by all accounts, but he was terrible as the play-by-play guy.

Yeah, he belongs in the Detroit sports market. Either as a studio host or a sports radio guy. I think he's a good dude. Just wasn't good at calling baseball games.

People still watch baseball?

Shep was a gem on radio broadcasts for EMU for years, during some pretty dark times for the program.

Also on U-M basketball but he probably achieved the Peter Principle going to Tigers-MLB.
