RE: So is the consensus ON HERE is that the season is pretty much over
Most of BlazerTalkers mainly were fans during the Bartow years of the 80s-mid 90s and football was average during the pre-Clark days

I think we can get some wins moving forward but there is little room for error with this team. I think we have to score 28 (+) points per game to have a true shot at W(s) from here on out. That will force the opponent to go high octane as well which should allow the defense to take more calculated risks.

RE: So is the consensus ON HERE is that the season is pretty much over
I don't think the season is over.
There wasn't much discussion on here preseason, because I think most people realistically expected us to be bad. I drank the koolaid a little bit, but I now fully realize the rebuilding job we are in the midst of.
I was ready to say the season was over after the Louisiana game. Dumpster fire. Coaches looked completely lost and in over their heads. Worst game of UAB football I've personally watched with my own eye balls. You don't go through a regression of that severity without some overreaction.
That being said, the improvement against GEORGIA of all teams, was quite remarkable. Really in all phases of the game. I was very complimentary of the coaching staff and players after that game.
THAT THAT being said, we are still an extremely young, RAW as sashimi, team and coaching staff. We have a super low margin of error with how bad our defense is. At this point I just hope we do not have another dumpster fire game like against Louisiana, we see improvement game to game, we are competitive in pretty much every game, and we build positive momentum for next year.
The season is in no way over. I don't expect more than 3 wins at this point, but like another poster said - the conference race is wide open, the bowl eligibility race is wide open, etc. We have a TON to play for. I hope they prove me wrong.
As an aside, I really, really loved how Dilfer coached last game against Georgia. He went for it on 4th downs. He actually utilized the clock correctly and scored before halftime. We played a relatively clean game. Those are things Bill Clark never dreamed of doing. That game gave me some hope for the future. I hope we build on it.

Anyone who sees the seasons as over already is very short sighted and thin skinned. We knew it was going to be a process. Our schedule is incredibly hard. Dilfer didn’t even have a full off season to build a team. Give him some time and just look for improvements. I think we end up winning in the 4ish to MAYBE 6. I’m still high on the squad

Heck no! I look forward to each and every game and I'm focused in on improvement and the play of our new guys. I am with UAB 23 though........I think we have some limited guys playing over players with much more talent.

In no way is this season over. Beat Tulane tomorrow and the whole board outlook changes. Lose respectably and it's a game we were supposed to lose. Lose looking like we did against Louisiana and the panic will set in. Lot of season left yet. We'll see.

The season is not over until the last game is played.

What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!...
It ain’t over now, 'cause when the goin' gets tough, the tough get goin'. Who's with me? Let's go! Come on!..

What changes in my life if UAB wins or loses later today? Nothing. I'm going to watch and enjoy and hope that we do win, but the emotional impact will be over a few hours after the game ends. Once, I felt very differently.
