IPF
Since the team will be in town to honor DeAngelo why not go all out and rename the IPF as the Coach Tommy West IPF.

We all know if not for his now famous rant we likely would still be heading to CBHS on stormy days to have full practices.

RE: IPF
Why? We fired him.

Good HC for his time, but he had to go. His heart was not in it.

He could have said whatever he wanted to, but he is not the reason we have an IPF. That came when Johnson and Raines left and who replaced them.

If he was the reason why we have an IPF, his replacement would not have been Porter.

Remember years ago like in the 70's when we had an indoor practice facility? It burned and we finally replaced it. Didn't we have insurance?

Using your argument then we should remove Finch's name from the Finch center.

He was fired and we ended up with Tic Price.

Master plans for upgrades to south campus were already in place before Johnson and Raines left.

The reason we got it done when we did is due us getting our own board of trustees.

We have an interesting history with our athletic facilities and fire.

The old turf room burned but not the weight room. They didn't replace the turf room at that time, but "repaired" it. It's still there and still sucks. That fire was in 2002, I believe. IPF wasn't started until 2016. The area between the turf room on the west side and what is now the Olympic sports weight room was where a lot of our equipment was stored.
Ole Miss was the main program to help us out after that and sent us shoes and extra equipment to last us until we could replenish the equipment that was lost.

How much money did Spook give to build south campus, or Elma Roane give to the fieldhouse or Finch give to the Finch Center?

Because your argument was stupid and lacking.
Not only was Coach Finch a former coach for the University...but one of our most famous alumni players as well (before the Penny Hardaway era anyway).
He was important at his time for bringing Memphians together for that magical run that year.
Memphians black and white might not have agreed upon much in those days...but they could agree he was a great athlete and representative for the University.
Tic Price had as much in common with Larry Finch, as Babe Laufenberg does to Troy Aikman.

Different times. And Spook was the reason the South Campus was built.

Why does almost every thread devolve into name-calling or some stupid political/crime/potstirring back and forth? I swear, it seems like some of y'all go looking for a thesaurus to find out how many different ways you can call someone, or someone's post, stupid.

AGAIN WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

I applied his argument across the board to other coaches.

His claim was that because a coach was fired and we ended up with an inferior coach afterwards.

That fact alone disqualifies the former coach from having a building named after him.

Those exact parameters apply to Finch.

So either the parameters set apply to everyone or they don't apply to anyone.

Can't have different set of ground rules based on who is involved?

The point he's making is that Finch was a star player and not merely a coach who was fired, making him deserving of the honor. Capiche?
