Surprise Player of the Week
This week has to go to DJ Barksdale. Seemed he played significant snaps in the 2nd half with 5 solo tackles. I thought his kickoff return late in the game was critical for flipping field position.

Honorable mention: Dollison! What? Where did that come from? Nice to see some depth developing in the WR corps.

Add Aiden Fisher to that list. He led all tacklers and, of course, his pick was critical.

Yes, I expected he'd have to play well after his performance last week against Troy, he's got a Sam Kidd vibe to him. He also deflected the pass to Ponds for the last INT.

And, unlike JMU's history with linebackers, he is actually D1 linebacker size at 6'1/227, and just a sophomore. Will he keep his starting job or go back to the bench when Taurus Jones returns?

I think if JMU gets all LB’s back healthy, whether it be this year or next year, all 3 play and one of them becomes the rover hybrid LB. You have to get your best players on the field.

Fisher was the player of the game last night. He was clutch in critical situations with the pick and causing the ball to be deflected on that last interception. He is a stud and has great instincts.

He also laid the wood on a QB scramble toward the end of the 4th, Hillstead looked like he wanted out of the game, went on to throw two picks in the waning minutes but he never looked right after that hit.

RE: Surprise Player of the Week
Fisher has been making some incredible plays. I wouldn't say he was a surprise based on the past few weeks, though. He's the real deal.
Barksdale was the name I thought of before I even clicked on this thread. He did a really great job and expect to see more of him in the weeks to come.
