Getting the obvious & what everyone else said out the way:

UF-FSU
tUSC-- Clemson
UK-UL
UGa-GT
Auburn-Syracuse
Tennessee-Pittsburgh
Alabama-Miami
TAMU-VT
tMSU-NCSU
Texas-Cal
Vandy-Duke
‐----------------------

I came up with this:

Arkansas-UNC lots of state pride
BC-Mizzou, we feel left out
WFU-Ole Miss, SoCon reunion time!!!
OU vs Stanford Grapes of Wrath bowl
LSU-SMU Oil Bowl
[/quot

Vandy already has a relationship with WF
Auburn's relationship should be with another Cow College - NC State or VT. Not a private school in upstate NY.

RE: If your team had an SEC rival who would it be?
NC State is tired of playing Mississippi State. Now I know we don't have the free board capacity to accommodate more than 4K traveling fans and it's an issue for those with 100K plus seat stadiums. There are also three other p-4 choices to play in the State of NC.

I don't think the above scenarios work on a regular basis, but I think packages of two with four games played over 4-6 year would work well.

Take GT for instance. Georgia every year kills them now. What if they traded off every other year with Auburn. It fills the same niche for GT. It's a traditional game. So UGa/Aub/UGA/Aub should work just fine and not bust the basis upon which the athletic foundation is based. If Auburn will not go for it then Tennessee.

I thought following up as six game packages played over 8 years:

UNC - UGa/Texas/Break/UGa/Texas/Break/UGa/Texas
Pitt - Tennessee/PSU/TN/PSU break, TN(if any b10 cooperation exists at all)
NC State - TAMU/TN/Auburn/Break/TAMU/TN/Auburn
Miami- Bama/OU/break/Bama/Bama/break/OU/OU
VT - Auburn/LSU/TN break/Auburn/LSU/Break/TN
FSU - Texas and Texas along with regular Florida games
Clemson - Texas and Texas along with regular SC games

But it will take conference level cooperation to prevent the schools with the smaller stadiums from being left high and dry once you get to Duke, WF, and others.

They also can't all be played in the first 4 weeks of the season.

Week 5, 6, and 7 would be good. (and yes you would work around those SEC schools that must play each other on a certain weekend, lest their coeds ovaries wither.

Plus, Wake and Ole Miss were never in the SoCon at the same time.

When I was in school at Clemson in the 70's, the Clemson - Georgia game was played annually and was for many Clemson fans a bigger rivalry than Clemson - South Carolina. Athens is 50 miles closer to Clemson than Columbia.

I remember those days, and YES, Georgia/Clemson was a HUGE rivalry... but nothing EVER ecclipsed the seething hatred of the SC/Clemson rivalry. The Tigers I knew would rather go 1-11 than lose to the Gamecocks!

No doubt that there is bad blood between Clemson & SC - nothing I hate more than losing to the chickens. But, for some of us Clemson fans, UGA was the bigger and more hated rival. Of course, now that we don't play them (UGA) annually like we once did, the intensity of this rivalry has definitely subsided.

Here are some significant ACC-SEC games outside of the season finales:

Virginia - S. Carolina, Vandy
Virginia Tech - Kentucky, S. Carolina
Wake - S. Carolina, Vandy
Carolina - S. Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia
Duke - S. Carolina, Tennessee
State - S. Carolina
Clemson - Georgia, Auburn
GaTech - Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee
FSU - S. Carolina, Auburn
Miami - Florida, Alabama

South Carolina obviously has significant history with many ACC programs, but they also do with the ACC's former Southern Independents.

GaTech is a former member so I just listed their three most played games. They also have history with former SEC member, Tulane.

Well observed, I'd say. Florida State vs South Carolina was a successful series in the old Metro Conference days. Fans travelled well between the two state capitals. Auburn is an easy trip for Florida State fans, too. And we have such fond memories of Auburn from 2013 Pasadena. 03-rotfl
