Someone earlier said the Va flag. Oh god that's a bad one. Love Va but we have an ugly state flag, not cool like SC.

Someone needs to tell Aramark that $5 for a $.25 bottle of water is flat crazy. Also bring in food connected to our area. There is nothing I would eat there.

I swear I remember when the stadium was just an idea or being built they talked up all the unique and great food that we’d get to choose from. Am I crazy or did that happen??

You are not crazy. Just another part of the stadium that was over promised and under delivered.

Free beer before and after all games for students and a concert after every game. Just a suggestion for entertainment, Taylor Swift. :) That should do it.

That’s literally the 1 thing that sticks out more than anything as a MUST. How can you think he does a good job? He literally starts talking and freezes. Does the same thing at basketball. Only difference is during basketball we can see how confused he gets. It’s embarrassing and boring. I am shocked anyone could think he’s worth keeping.

Unless I have missed something, I haven’t seen one comment that says “let’s replace Jack with (insert name).” Easy to say they should replace the PA announcer, but who exactly do you feel should take over? Who do you know can devote the time like Jack can? Not saying he should or shouldn’t go, but if you’re going to say that getting rid of Jack is the answer, I’d like to see who your solution would be.

How about have a player of the game where there are interview segments with that player as a "get to know your Monarch" and then maybe a fan versus that Monarch trivia contest (of course prerecorded with the player) with the winner getting some type of prize. Trivia game could be answer as many questions in 30 seconds on various topics.

Unless I have missed something, I haven’t seen one comment that says “let’s replace Jack with (insert name).” Easy to say they should replace the PA announcer, but who exactly do you feel should take over? Who do you know can devote the time like Jack can? Not saying he should or shouldn’t go, but if you’re going to say that getting rid of Jack is the answer, I’d like to see who your solution would be.

There are also calls to replace Wood but nobody has named who his replacement should be.

They are not going to hire somebody based on fan suggestion. They would likely advertise the job and interview like most job openings. Unless he is doing this for free, which he very well may be.

I have no idea if he does w good job or not bc I dont care about a PA announcer. Unless he starts calling a touchdown, an interception, Im not going to catch small errors. Its back round noise. A PA announcer is not gonna cause me to enjoy the game any more or less

A few times during the game he would say Wake Forest and in it sounded like he said weak forces.

Our fans were lied to on a lot of things. The school cut noticable corners (ie. Cupholders in stands) with the stadium. It is rather embarrassing how they have not been able to deliver on the food or on the in game entertainment. Basically- if you are not in the Priority Automotive Club lounge, you are subjected to the subpar overpriced food delivered by Aramark who sucks. Our AD and president never have to worry about being exposed to the food of the peasants though. They can access their Club whenever they want to.

But a good PA announcer can generate crowd noise just by the excitement in the tone of their voice. Jack sounds the same whether ODU gets sacked for 10 yards or whether ODU scores on a 95 yard touchdown pass. You cannot have that same monotone voice for all plays in the game. On top of that, he does make a lot of errors over the PA system. But I guess he can get by with it since hes been around since the Stone Age.

Lots of good ideas going - I am continuing to document. I know bickering is one of our favorite pastimes but try and keep the thread to ideas and positivity rather than disagreement. This is a brainstorming sesh. There are no bad ideas (except for killing ice cream and cake) :-)

He called our QB “Grant Williams.” The dude needs to go and is so boring.

Love Jack and whats he's done for ODU. But he's getting long in the tooth. Heck he was working for the VA Squires when Dr J joined the team as a rookie. Let that register.

Winning is the single most important factor of fan support.
One of the brilliant aspects of our early program was that we strategically scheduled to win.
The casual fan cares less about who we play than the outcome.
Our recent OOC schedules are NOT conducive to that end.
I am not sure how much input RR has in that area, but we only need one P5, if that, every season.
VT will put fans in the stands, but no other P5 will.

Want people in the stands?
Then schedule W&M, CNU, Norfolk State, or Hampton for the token FCS buy game, not Texas A&M Commerce.
Viable G5 OOCs should include ECU and Navy. I realize we cannot just snap our fingers and bring Navy here, but every effort should be made to get them here as often as possible.

Two P5s to start every season put us in a hole and negatively impact our bowl chances so early that fans just give up.

Agreed that winning is like 95% of the issue here. Gameday production could always improve but it wont fill the seats. However, I will note that Commerce was only scheduled because of the late cancellation/buyout of the Buffalo game (to help a conference mate who needed another FBS game). They were the only FCS with an open date that matched ours and a want to play a buy game that late in the process.
