Cinci has historically had a great basketball program. A couple of less than stellar seasons doesn’t change that. They still won 23 games and had a NIT invite in a down year.

What's so confusing about the fact that moving up to the AAC dramatically increases factors that help to make teams successful? We're talking institutional commitment to athletics, annual revenue, and media exposure (among other factors.)

You're entitled to your opinion and I disagree. The fact is they made it to the Final Four. Not long ago our biggest accolade in recent history was winning the NIT, and this year we have the reigning NIT champion, NIT runner-up, and the aforementioned Final Four team in the conference. This season should be no worse for the conference than most seasons (e.g. two bid conference) at a minimum. If you can't understand how that is a net positive after losing three programs, there's nothing more to really say.

Your opinions are not facts. Try and stick to facts if you're going to talk about "truth."

Facts:

Cinci + Houston > FAU and UNT

Are you really arguing this? C’mon man!

Lol, you have more patience than me, 1987. He argued for two days last week about how safe Memphis was.

Houston finished last season the #1 ranked team in the country, won the AAC for the 4th time in 5 years, and now he argues that UNT more than replaces them and might surpass us. His momma dropped him on his head once too many times.

Only if you have the reading abilities of a toddler. You couldn't be more wrong if you tried, but then again you're a proven liar. Find those posts where I state that Memphis is safe. You won't be able to.

Memphis won the AAC. Houston had the best conference record. There is a difference. Again, if you could read, FAU absolutely surpassed the NCAA tournament performance of Houston. UNT and UAB both surpassed the NIT performance of Cincy. Admit it, you're a cretin and have to rely on lies and gimmicks to pad your fragile little ego.

RE: Who is the Primary Cause for AAC's FB Failure?
Newcomers better than expected: Rice
Newcomers as bad as expected:FAU/Charlotte
Newcomers worse than expected: UAB/UTSA/UNT

Existing members worse than expected: ECU/Tulsa(Sure, TUlsa's played some tought teams, but at least show a pulse in those games)

And a couple of existing members I'm not sure where they fall: USF/Navy

So thats 5 teams performing worse than expected, and USF and Navy that I'm not quite sure about at this point. And that is dragging this conference down.

Based on last year's basketball performance:

FAU > Houston
UNT and UAB > Cincy and UCF

As far as future performance, that has yet to be seen. Consider that more money, exposure, and commitment to athletics will help the new programs. Either way, it won't be the end of the world and the AAC should continue to be a minimum two-bid league, same as it ever was.

Nonetheless, this thread isn't about hoops and Houston screwed the pooch against Rice of all teams. Fine showing there, but I digress. Thus far it appears this could be a down season for AAC football in general, but it's still too early to write the conference off. There's still a lot of season left for things to play out.

It’s not like we have SEC money. It’s not like these schools are about to be flooded with cash and will turn their programs around. We’ve had a decent top tier and a weak bottom tier. Now our top tier has been decimated and SMU sold their soul (great move!) to escape this conference. Most of the AAC is just not good in football or basketball. It was good because we had us, Houston, Cinci, and UCF (and SMU had their moments). Occasionally another team will be competitive. Right now, Tulane looks to be that program. None of the replacements are even close. They were desperate fill ins since there just isn’t anything left to pick from.

AAC money will be much better than CUSA money any way you slice it. Can't discount the ESPN exposure either. Sure it's not SEC money or exposure, but it's a far cry better than what they had previously.

SMU isn't what I would consider to be top tier. Not a tremendous loss in my book.

Only Houston has been worth much of anything lately in basketball, and I'm not pretending that they haven't been an exceptional program in that regard. The only point I've been trying to make is that FAU outperformed Houston last season and they're returning both their players and their coach.

Give it time. The new schools haven't even had the opportunity to see any of the aforementioned benefits from the new conference yet. Best to to hold any premature judgement and let things develop. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Describe "FB Failure".

Not sure exactly which failure is being considered football.

It wasn’t that long ago that I had listen to the road football games on the radio and try to imagine the game. We’ve come a long way.

Aresco. The CUSA additions were dumb. And will kill this conference.
