I hope they sit Rocky this week, mostly for his safety and recovery. Rocky can't move at all right now and there's no point in getting him killed in a meaningless game when they're still figuring out what to do about the offensive line. Let him get healed up for conference play and give Hampton and/or Cremascoli some valuable game experience.

As far as the line goes, left tackle, center and right guard have been problems in my opinion. We know Lippe and Potter can play, they're not the issue. I was impressed and pleasantly surprised with Hoth at left tackle vs. Nebraska. I wasn't sure he would be mobile enough to play there, but he did well. Leave him there and let him continue to develop.

They should give Schooley a look at center. I was hoping Nygra would take a step forward in year 2 but it has not seemed to happen. It may be partially due to him playing next to Champe who has also struggled, but whatever. They have to try something. At right guard we need to hope Z is back soon or try someone else in the interim.

Also, let's try some different guys at receiver. Pardridge was making some plays last night. I know it was against the second stringers, but they need to try something. Especially with Rudolph being MIA. Get somebody, anybody, who can get open and make a play.

Kudos to the defense, I thought they played great last night, every position group. This is our best defense in a while. Huge props to Benedetto, he's made a big difference.

I agree, Benedetto deserves a lot of credit. OLine is a head scratcher.

To me it looks like he’s almost scared/timid worrying about his leg. There has been only two Carries in my mind this season that he looked confident and in stride when running. Every other time it looks like he does not trust his one leg to plant and go. Maybe it’s just me though

All I know is that he’s running like me right now and that’s not good, especially behind this line.

Rally good post 81. Benedetto has done a great job. Our D has been playing well. That was a PYSICAL game last night. Hope we held up with injuries. Nebraska has a bigger QB issue than us, in that if they had a solid QB they would be ranked in top 10. Their Qb last night s/b a TE.

Schooley has been getting playing time and may get a start. Z? Is he coming back? WRs like what we saw in Pardridge, but #16 Johnson shows some big upside. #27 is not ready, Hampton threw a beautiful anticipation pass and he wasn't ready to catch the ball coming out of the cut. Flowers, looks slow. Is there a FR who can play? Lampee is our best back.

No, it's not just you. As much as I like and respect Rocky his time has passed. Is it physical or mental? I suspect both. Time for Hammock to be a real HC and make the change.

This has to be very hard on Rocky. He's such a competitor and to be this bad has to be hard on him. Rocky is a coach on the field and is football smart. He has got to know that he is hurting the O and the team. We've gone way past his being rusty and I don't see his bad QB play working itself out on the field. Rocky and Ham should really have a come to Jesus conversation with Rocky acknowledging he should not be the starting QB. Yes, I know with Rocky being such a competitor this would be hard for him and his ego. But, it's time for Rocky and Ham to acknowledge what is painfully obvious.

RE: For Tulsa
For Tulsa – a complete overhaul and shake-up of the O!

It starts with Hampton being the starting QB. Rocky deserves this ranking of the MAC QBs and after Nebraska we may have the worst QB in the MAC (and with a 40% completion rate against Nebraska and the fact that he can no longer be an effective runner he is in the team picture for the worst QB in FBS)!
https://collegefootballnetwork.com/mac-q...ings-2023/

As I said, I like and respect Rocky. I would love to see Rocky being successful out of any of our players! However, Rocky’s time has passed and he and Hammock should face that fact and make the change.

It seems clear that Rudolph is not physically and mentally ready to be the # 1 WR. In fact, I liked what I saw from the back-up WRs. We need changes at the WR position. I would sit Rudolph until he is 100% physically and mentally ready.

The only logical explanation for A. Brown is that he is not 100%. Start Gavin Williams and sit Brown until he is 100%.

I agree with the statement in this article that NIU “has to be one of the most confusing teams in the country through two weeks.” We may now be the most confusing team in the country after the Nebraska game. The D has made a complete turn around from last season. The O was supposed to be loaded with talent and have a very good O line.

As I said, a complete overhaul and shake-up of the O is needed. Also, the O needs to take what the defense is giving us and not keep trying the same failed things over and over and hoping the result will be different (which doesn’t happen)! Do it for the Tulsa game as a tune-up for the MAC games. I see it as simple – Hammock needs to step up and make changes that are so obviously needed now and not later!

What’s so confusing? We have the worst offense in the country. It’s pathetic. Changes need to be made or we’ll continue to be the worst offense in the country. Worst offense in epic proportions…

What’s confusing is that they were much better last year on offense and basically has no one different and more depth this season. One would expect them to be better

That was my thinking last week. But now is the time to make changes. Rocky of last year’s Tulsa and Vanderbilt games is gone. We have the Rocky of the BC, ISU, and Nebraska games. And he has engineered the worst offense in the country. Changes in QB, WR, and in game coaching is much needed.

He got hurt in the SIU game. He missed a series, which Hampton played and went 3 and out, while they worked on him. I thought it was mentioned he had a hand injury too.

I think rocky playing is a perfect example of awful coaching. Hammock is showing how poor of a coach he is at this point.

Stubbornness is probably Hammock’s biggest issue. Rocky starting is a mistake - if it continues what else can we assume but Hammock is a terrible coach?

We will have to get used to this offensive ineptitude. Hammock is a terrible in-game coach and recruiter. He is as stubborn as a mule and changes won’t come until it’s too late - if he even bites the bullet and makes the changes. But, even if he makes the necessary offensive changes (and they’re needed everywhere), who do we have as backups with Hammock being a poor recruiter? Rocky would need to do the proper thing by sitting himself down and giving Hampton the chance to maybe move the offense a few yards. But, as a competitor, will he do it for the betterment of the team? His days are in the past.

And, for gosh sakes, sit Brown and Rudolph, and bring in anyone with legs. But, before that, make the necessary changes on the OL - assuming we have able bodied personnel. Will all these changes be made? I think not, considering the stubbornness of Hammock. To say the state of things is most depressing is a big understatement.

This is why you start someone else. What if they get a win? A little bit of momentum could save Hammock’s job and the season

But Hammock is a **** coach. He won’t do anything.
