Week 3 AAC Takeaways
-Tulane looks sharp on both sides of the ball, Pratt or no Pratt. Good win over the Sun Belt, we needed one.
-Memphis V. Navy was a hell of a game (GOTY candidate). Memphis needs to work on tackling, but they look strong. Navy offense has come a long way since Notre Dame, they will compete in conference play
-Rice! Rice! Rice! DO NOT sleep on these Owls, they are playing as hard as any right now and look great on both sides
-UTSA...yikes. Needed that win, should still bounce back and compete in conference play...but they are not the powerhouse people were expecting (give it time)
-SMU looked about as good as anyone should look against PVA&M. Should put in a good run in conference play
-FAU...I know it's Clemson, but should have been more competitive. QB play was not ideal, they will get it together in conference play (hopefully)
-I have no idea what kind of team Temple will become. Offensive powerhouse? Defensive liability? Hard to tell right now, this week will not help either.
-UNT got their wings back! Good win for confidence, gotta keep that momentum going
-USF looks like a totally different team. Where did that defense come from? Wow. Figure out who the guys are on offense and they will be competitive
-Tulsa is starting to look more like the Tulsa we were expecting. Yes, Oklahoma is legit, but the Tulsa offense took a step back (not good relying on that defense)
-UAB is starting to realize its limitations, strengths, and weaknesses. The weaknesses prevailed this week. Bounce back coming soon
-Charlotte needs to re-think the offense. I believe Poggi will be making hefty changes this week. Would like to see them bounce back
-ECU...things are getting ugly very fast. Donnie Kirkpatrick is incompetent at calling plays. The defense looks good, but when they are forced to play 80% of the game they will not be able to bail the offense out. Time for some serious changes.
