There is no better time to do it. I get that none of us are happy with the 1-3 start we are about to be facing, but Dilfer is learning on the fly. We could have went a different direction in the initial hire, but we didn’t, and this is where we are at. I actually don’t think Dilfer is full of coach speak, there are just some questions you aren’t going to get answers to. My main desire from this season was for the team at game 12 to look significantly better than the team in game 1, and that is still possible.

agreed, I dont think there is as much coach speak as other coaches in the past. there is only so much that can be said.

In many cases it's not so much coach speak as it is that he's finding out what works as we go, same as we are. I still think it's a good hire. The offense shows a lot of potential. It needs reps and recruits but I think it's basically sound. Defense, I'm not so sure of. For sure we need better athletes, and a full season or two of recruiting should help with that. System wise, at best the jury is still out. I hope to see things improve, and if they don't I hope to see positive changes.

I don't see why not. If he does, by the end of the season we'll see some improvement because the guys will use to the speed and physicality of FBS by then.

I don’t know a ton about the X’s and O’s Of line play, but it appears to me our d-line can not generate any sort of push, which I assume is the first issue with our run defense.

First issue with the defense, period. There needs to be push on the QB as well. I'd blame the entire front seven, not just the DL. OTOH, we know that we're young and small, which feeds into it as much as coaching does. We lost a whole lot of talent. Without making any excuse for scheme and coaching, when you add fifty-one players, it's hard to be as cohesive as before.
