… Halftime

U-LaLa: 56
UAB : 52

… Final

Our defense finally shows out is this one by holding them to 250-yds rushing and 350-yds passing.

It’s the calm before next week’s storm where we regress a good bit.

[*: The above is stated for my amusement only. I think we COULD win this one 37-28. Whether we will or not remains to be seen.]

We have a pretty bland and boring game day experience, we haven’t looked particularly good this year outside of the offense, and the concession prices and situation has been beaten to death… I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to come to UAB game right now

It’s funny looking back now. Remember the Iron City dude basically saying to build our stadium to look like Mountain Brook? “We need more seats on the home side.”

The vocal few sit on the the east side now. So, now there’s nobody that actually listens to the players when they turn to the crowd asking people to make noise behind the home bench anymore because they’re all hiding in the club.

Sorry to say it, but we had better fan engagement at legion field. You were right when you said protective don’t feel like home.

Maybe it’ll take playing Memphis for folks to care.We do have an ungrateful base.

New stadium, Solid program. Yet folks still sit on their ass like they don’t want to be there.

I suspect that Memphis is going to be 1/4 to 1/3 of the crowd for that game. We need some wins or it's going to be really bad. Most of today's students don't even know they should hate Memphis. let alone actually doing so.

People no longer are required to have a blind loyalty to the coach. This allows realism and objectivity when looking at our program for what it is.

Basically we’re all in the “show me something” phase.

Brother 58-56 has shown and encouraged Belief under Watson Brown, Neal Calloway, Garrick McGee, Bill Clark, and now Trent Dilfer. It's not about the coach. You are new and simply do not understand this or his role on this board.

I believe in UAB.

Please don’t be alarmed on my behalf. All I’m trying to say is that we’re going through decent transitions on multiple fronts at the moment; a completely new coaching staff & philosophy and a brand new & better conference.

Have no doubt, I have complete confidence in this coach, his staff, and our team. I’m only stating that, in my opinion, we may be going through an imperfect storm at the moment where we MAY appear to be much more wretched than we actually are.

I’m forever a Blazer no matter how dark some skies above appear to be. The sun will rise come morning. We just must weather the evening storms before we get there. I hope you, and others, better understand my perspective. I really wasn’t trying to drag our collective spirits down. My apologies if I did.

Thank you (you forgot Jim Hilyer and Bryant Vincent). For many years, I've watched "objectivity" and "realism" used as code words for "loser mentality."

Any organization lives and dies based on attitude. I might admit that it will be really, really tough to beat Georgia, but I'll never predict that my team will lose.

If we'd been "objective" and "realistic" in 2014-15, we would not be having this conversation, the marching band would be performing at soccer games, and Rob Ehsan would be priming his team to hopefully finish in the upper half of the Atlantic Sun.

So yeah. **** realism, and **** objectivity.

And Fire Ray Watts.

It takes very little exposure to realize that one should hate memphis.

No problem!

I do think that many of us, on assuming a new leadership role, have to learn the "don't hire your buddies" rule the hard way. Just saying.

I should have included Coach Hilyer. I wasn't willing to state your stance on Vincent, although given that he was UAB's coach I had a good guess.

We last played in football in 2012, hoops in 2019. I imagine their crowd will go a long way to re-establishing their proper place at the top of our hate list.

I’m just still unsure of this defense.

I’m gonna say 34-31 Blazers. But that’s not a confident prediction.

We just got smacked around on both lines by Georgia Southern. Not UGA. Nobody is going to be sipping the koolaid after that.

If we can get stops and go up a couple of scores early, folks will chill.

Thank you. I still have complicated feelings regarding Vincent: I disliked how Clark pantsed Ingram to get him the job, but what was Vincent supposed to do? Walk away? He was in an impossible situation. My dislike for Ingram shaded my view as well, but he had few choices, either, post-pantsing. But I looked for us to win every game last year, too.

I like Dilfer, he's definitely not boring. When there are 130 Dilfers coaching D1 football I may grow tired of the schtick.

I don’t expect the defense to look good at all. Just want some incremental improvements and something to give me some hope. Same for the special teams.

We have to be able to beat a mediocre sunbelt team at home, or I expect this season will unravel quickly.

Better than before with that little corner COGS

Protective Stadium is FINALLY constructing an elevator COGS

I see that it's a big recruiting game for the players and band

Half concessions are open and the Lady Electra on the East Side that typically has good beer prices is closed….
