Even better if they can disentangle the funds going to Simmons Bank Liberty Bowl from those going to the FedEx forum ..life will be much simpler. I'll admit Pera and his crew of behind the scenes lobbyists have the upper hand... so getting the money separated would be a big plus for Memphis.

Per the article...
The documents also revealed for the first time that the Grizzlies have estimated a cost of $550 million for FedExForum renovations and the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium project is estimated to be $295 million, if the full scope of their plans are executed. This proposal from Strickland calls for less money than each entity estimated.
If $295M is needed and city is going to dole out $220M, the University will need to pony up more than $5M. Unless, you reduce the scope of the project.

Will the SHC and LB pony up 1/6th of whatever the UM puts up?
After getting screwed out of the money we put up for the pyramid not sure why the school should have to pay anything for a public building.

If the university puts money in and the shc does not the university should get priority over scheduling and not be forced into a road game the 2nd week of the season every year

I guess you did not see what the new arena in OKC is costing?
didn't their owner kick in 50 million...I mean, of the city is kicking in 492 million Pera/Grizz could kick in 25 right?
the Grizzlies seem to be paying $25million of the renovations, about the same % as OKC Thunder is paying for the new $900milion place
No, they're not actually paying a dime.
If by chance they do put in $25 or even $50 million all they're doing is using the almost $5 million the city is paying them each year under the new lease agreement to cover the cost.
Someone is pocketing money somewhere as there is no way the forum needs $500 million in upgrades.
But if we don't bend over and take it in the end before the end of the year, then WWH will give almost every dime to the Griz and there will be no SBLS upgrades at all.
While I still don't think it is fiscally feasible, I am more open to at least exploring the possibility of a multi-purpose OCS if the city refuses to give the Tigers the respect they deserve.

Thanks for putting our minds at ease with your valuable insider information. We would be lost without you.
I know you’re being sarcastic but it’s not insider info. It’s just common sense. Hopefully you were smart enough not to fall for all of Calkins bs? If not I’ll pray for you

They seriously ought to think about it. The renovations are only going to go so far and carry us so long.
Eventually we'll have to build a new one to satisfy the new design and technology.
Tell the Grizz we're going to skip the renovations and start work on a new arena with their input and assistance.
With their input, assistance, and *money.* Otherwise if we're going to invest 550 million to essentially tearing down and rebuilding the FedEx forum then Grizzly Corp should be required to sign a long-term lease. Since that's what this is all about... right.
Heck, don't tear down the FEF. Let the Tigers have it.

Yeah. We need to see this 30-year lease extension tied to the money explicitly.
