Not sure why we did away with the 901 Club (that was a cool marketing strategy).

I'm not sure any marketing strategy will help the current situation, though. We face two battles: winning new fans and winning back old fans.

With winning new fans, we'll have to keep being creative (the home winning streak idea was neat). We'll have to continue to promote to a variety of demographics to be successful (it's hard to promote with a one-size fits all strategy in Memphis).

Winning back old fans is a different story (to get back to our core 30k-35k). I'm not sure marketing is capable of fixing the situation. We lost some season ticket holders with COVID policies. We lost some with the BLM statement. And we have lost the largest amount due to dislike of Silverfield. I'm still in the Silverfield boat (things will resolve this season one way or another-- he's either getting to 10 wins or he's not, so I'm along for the ride). But we have folks that won't set foot back into another Tiger game while he's on the sideline (and I've heard reasons ranging from being uninspired by his coaching philosophy to personal hatred almost bordering on anti-Semitism).

I know several people in each group listed above except for the last one. I don't know anybody not going to the games because of the coach.

Really? I know several. None of them have hatred. But they are under the opinion that his style of football is boring and that he loses too many games that he should win. They have decided they would rather un-invest by watching at home, and then changing channels.

I can't really blame them.

I was against pastner but still went to the games.

RE: Improving Tiger Football Attendance
Woke up this morning turn on the TV to check the weather and i am fuming.

They had story where the library system has started issuing Grizzlies themed library cards.

Every school kid that has a card is being fed Grizzlies from a early age.

How come there were never Tigers themed cards?

If the county is going to use a tax funded entity to promote a sports team, shouldn't it be the only Div 1 college team in the county.

Or any school located in the county.

Would have no issue with them having cards for every college and university in the county.

But to only have them for one particular professional sports team is not right.

30-35k is about our limit. When UT is bad we get some crossover fans. I know some of you hate to hear that but it’s true. There really isn’t anything we can do at this point. The teams that fill the stadium don’t want to come here anymore and that’s a tribute to the two previous coaches

I’m afraid it’s just going to get worse as crime hits cars during the games. Why go to a game and get hundreds of dollars of damage to your car when you can just watch it on tv?

History has repeatedly shown that if you get to kids early and indoctrinate them that you can control what they do and think as they get older.

The city and county are pushing the Grizzlies onto the youth of the community during their formative years and creating Grizzlies fans. Instead of promoting the colleges of the community.

RE: Improving Tiger Football Attendance
Last time I went to a Tiger football game, I took my grandkids. Walking into the stadium a group of frat boys were standing in the grass having a drunk pissing contest that my 4 year old granddaughter had to see. When I complained I was basically told that is what I get for taking kids to a football game and I have never been back to a Tiger football game. I still go to basketball games, but if I cant take my granddaughter to a game, then I wont be going either.

That's why I said above that the Tiger Cub program (long since abandoned) was the thing that made me a Tiger for life. No doubt Spook was also in his early years of sustained success within the FB program & winning over that decade or so encouraged my fandom.
