FBS vs. FCS Rivals?
Was thinking about FBS vs FCS rivals (even minor ones) that used to play all or most every year, but went away for the most part after one of them moved up/down a level. Any other examples besides these?

Wazzu/Idaho
Boise State/Idaho
Akron/Youngstown State
Ball State/Indiana State
Miami OH vs Dayton
Army/Navy vs Ivy League

A lot of the Louisiana schools apply. Any combination of Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, McNeese, Northwestern St, ULM and to a lesser extent Nicholls St and Southeastern Louisiana.

Texas State used to have rivalries sating decades with Sam Houston and SFA. Now it is Sam and SFA.

Essentially, look at the history of the Southland Conference.

I wish WCU had a better program. Had they been successful over the past few decades, I believe there might have been a window when they could've moved up to the Sun Belt (around the time Chattanooga was asked).

That time has long passed though.

Virginia Tech played Richmond 52 times, but only once since 1986.
Virginia Tech has played William & Mary 64 times, but only 3 times since 1985.

1982 the Southern Conference was moved down to I-AA. VPI was in the Southern Conference for a good while with Richmond and William & Mary.

Syracuse vs Colgate. Seems that gets played every year, I don’t know the history, but I think it’s ancient.

Maryland vs Towson? Seems like that was/is a thing.

Maryland's official rivals are Navy, Penn State, Virginia and West Virginia. Towson isn't an official rival, but they have played them in the past, along with Delaware and Howard. I'm not sure when they've played Georgetown and Morgan State.

Yep.

NWST is our second most played team. Other than maybe the 80s they were a much bigger rival than what is now ULM for us. Played mostly in Shreveport during the state fair. But all the public Louisiana schools have history across what our current subdivisions are. I don't know that either was ever very intense or a top level rivalry but we have quite a few historical games against UTA and Lamar, too.

I don’t know any one at Jax State that even thinks about Samford at all. Now Chattanooga I’d say a lot of us at Jax State hate them more than Kennesaw State. North Alabama is up there too but from my time at JSU we hated the Mocs.

We never really had a big conference rival in the OVC we did have some good years with Eastern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky but nothing huge

Not really a rivalry because of lack of history but I do wish ETSU and UT would play more. If we are going to play FCS teams might as well be in state.

VPI/VMI was once an annual Thanksgiving rivalry at Victory Stadium in Roanoke.

Syracuse/Colgate was a big rivalry back in the day. The student bodies even rented planes to air raid the other campus with flyers.

Vanderbilt and Tennessee State have played only three times (2006, 2016 and 2018) and I wish the two football programs would face each other every season. An HBCU vs. an elite private. The OVC vs. the SEC. Two contrasting marching bands. Both located in Nashville.

Maryland played Georgetown from 1894-1907 and 1934-1950. Georgetown owns an 11-6 edge in the series.
