Dilfer seems to be very similar to AK in his press conferences - always seeing the negatives or things that need to get better despite of positive play or players breaking records/being top in the nation in stats.

I like it. What did he say that others here didn't say.

Stats don't mean a thing when the main stat is either a W or L

He gave Zeno his props and wouldn't throw anyone under the bus

Nothing is so bad it can't be fixed and they know they screwed up on playcalling

He seemed upbeat yet not pleased with the second half performance. He doubled down on Sione, calling him one of the greatest football minds he's been around, and he's confident the defense will make corrections.

My only concerns with his comments is still 100% offensive focused. He is covering for the defensive woes

Agreed. Which is strange considering his Lipscomb teams shutout so many teams or had teams barely reach double digits against them. I know it was high school football, but it's not like he was winning shootouts in that level, he was blowing people out and not letting them score. It is the same DC that had so many shutouts and low scores against.

I too would like to hear him or Sione talk more about the defensive woes that past 2 games.

Yes, the turnovers definitely didn't help us and was part of the problem that led to us losing the game, but Georgia Southern wouldn't be in a shootout if we pressured their QB - he had all day to make his reads and throw the ball.

That's great and all but he was injured and didn't get much reps. If he shanks a chip shot again, put in the other kicker and see what he can do. Or try to see if Quinn can do kickoffs and swap them.

I didn't realize Burkardt transferred to Texas Tech, where he is handling the kickoff duties there. Unfortunately, we gave GS a lot of return yards on Saturday from short kickoffs. Just another little thing that can add up.

MUCHO coach speak but no details. Not impressed with his responses to fairly specific questions, but not sure what to really expect from a coach these days.

Yep thought the same. He could have said something about Smile-A-Mile but then brought it together and said we need to be more aggressive and punch them in the mouth.

It does show they are reading the board and getting a feel for our concerns, even if we don't like the answers as much

I feel like a few people have said that it's easier to improve a defense than an offense, which I think is probably true. Never would have guessed our offense would make such a quick turnaround. I know we are only two games in, but I feel like the last few years if we went down by two possessions, it was game over. It seems like we can almost score at will as long as we don't have a turnover. Crazy to think what this offense would do with the ~2019-2021 defenses.
