Two articles back to back. The one on SMU is 22 minute read, but tons of information on how they got it done.

It blows my mind that people have that kind of money. And SMU has a lot of boosters with billions. A lot.

The list of prominent SMU alums reads like a who's who list of politics, business, and entertainment.

Non-profit hospital gives 25 million to USF Athletics. If you take the ethics out of it what's not to like.

So we are looking for that p5 tv money to help advance our program and SMU just paid $200M to get in? Didn't read the entire article but I heard they also will not get tv money for 10 years.

Didn't see the usf stadium part but if the Liberty Bowl looked like Raymond James Stadium I would have no problem with it being off campus. That is the best stadium I have ever been to.

Hard to believe USF would want to move out of a “state of the art” NFL stadium, but they obviously believe status quo isn’t an option. Kudos to them for taking it upon themselves to plan for an eventual exit from G5 purgatory. I hope the state’s investment in the city’s municipal facility will do the same for us.

You guys are right. It's nothing compared to basketball players being directly involved in a shooting resulting in murder, with one of them never missing a game and eventually making the NBA.

There was a shooting just outside the Denver Nuggets NBA arena after they had just wrapped up the NBA championship back in June. And just a month ago two people were shot at the White Sox stadium during a game. It kills me that we have shootings like this nowadays but it isn't just Memphis man. It is totally all over the nation. Our society has a serious screw loose somewhere.

Yeah, it’s obvious that he’s spewing stupidity without regard. Also, it matches how he’s been indoctrinated to react when his cohort posts the code word….

My reference was to the statement I replied to where Chicago, Denver and Memphis are mentioned. Please provide the same information about how red they are.

To cherry pick a situation of a shooting in a red city to prove a point is cnn sad. I owe you an apology sir. I have enjoyed the majority of your posts and had you pegged as being someone smarter than that.

I can assure you that the list wasn't cherry picked. The voters of Tuscaloosa vote overwhelmingly red. By my standards, it demonstrates the overriding politics of the area. I doubt the city is large enough to warrant a designation from CNN or any other media outlet.

Beyond that, I can share this infographic, but if that won't convince you I'm afraid that's all I have:

Okay. I see what you mean now. I only picked Tuscaloosa because I had referenced the city much earlier in the thread with regards to the news of the shooting at the FedExForum, and how that was far less egregious than Alabama basketball players being directly involved with a shooting and murder off campus.
