Army to AAC gaining momentum?
Pete Thamel seems to imply as much

[Image: Screenshot-2023-09-06-at-6-29-56-PM.png]

Hope it happens!

If Aresco can find a way to reel in Air Force to go with Army and Navy, the American will immediately become my second-favorite football league behind only wherever Miami ends up post-ACC

13 in BBall is lame… can they get a decent A-10 team? VCU or some other less obvious school? Otherwise, Army alone doesn’t replace what was lost.

Posters wanting to see a lot of G5 conference shuffling will be disappointed if ARMY move actually happens (AF Not going anywhere IMO).

That move would end realignment--- for a while.

G5 leagues have ZERO incentive(money) to go to 16 or 18. Fourteen is almost too large.

Army would be football only (like Navy)

I think the AAC landing Army would be about the best possible outcome for the conference. Army has always been a good fit for what Aresco is building.

Still be interesting how they work the Army/Navy game if Army pulls the trigger.

A good deal for the AAC, but a very bad deal for Army football: back to regular 3-9 seasons for the Cadets.

The teams Air Force needs/wants to play every year:

Needs
1) Army/Navy (tie)
Wants/Almost Needs
3) Colorado St
4) Wyoming
Wants
5) New Mexico

They have the perfect setup, a good regional league that gives them their traditional geographic rivals and the guarantee of playing Army/Navy every year. There’s no reason to give up their Front Range schools to play East Carolina and Temple.

Dayton would probably be the other one if it's not VCU. ECU and Charlotte probably don't want Davidson.

If they close the deal, that is what will show us which side was more eager to close it.

The Army-Navy game will be OOC.

That makes no sense. Why have them join if Navy/Army is a none conference game.

RE: Army to AAC gaining momentum?
Can I throw some skepticism out there?

This is mostly a question for the Aresco LEague fans, including the Aresco League alumni. SMU, Houston, UConn, Cincinnati, UCF, MEmphis fans...

...how much excitement was there about Navy coming to town to play? After the first time, was it still a big deal?

I have a suspicion that Army or Navy coming to town is a moderately special occassion for the lower half of the P5, in that it's replacing a totally ho-hum body-bag or 1-for-1 with a G5 nobody cares about. HAving Army (or Navy) come to play, with the pageantry and the patriotic hoopla definitely beats having Northern Illinois or Middle Tennessee or North Texas come to your stadium.

So is having a service academy in your conference all it's cracked up to be?

Dayton would be decent replacement in place of Cincinnati.

Navy is heading for losing seasons too.
