The rest of us aren’t sedentary, slack-jawed yokels.

We go to a lot of college and PROFESSIONAL games, and nowhere has been as expensive as UAB football at protective stadium.

No matter how much some of y’all minimize it, it’s a BAD look to set the price ceiling for crap food, beer, and service for a really bad on the field product that no one wants to come watch, even in the most optimal of situations.

Things like this turn people away for good.

Some of y’all pay lip service to wanting to get more fans in the building, then make fun of others who bring up incredibly legitimate and relevant complaints.

Just got a response back from the BJCC's Ms. Kelley: "I’ve had a chance to review your message submitted below, and I’d first like to thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us, so we are able to address the issue. We have engaged our concessions management team and other leadership on your comments and that is possible because you sent them our way. Thank you again for taking the time to notify us and please let me know if there is anything else that I can help with in the meantime." Glad to hear everything is fixed!

Same copy and paste response I got...and I have yet to get a follow up from whoever the concession management team is

It is nuts to want to go back to Legion Field, but it is legit to say that team spirit and noise was better there. Protective began with the same obstacle that has plagued Bartow Arena. The best seats are designated for corporations and high-rollers who don't show up, and if they do show up, they sit on their hands. The vocal few who used to cheer the players from behind the bench are now far side "sidelined". Add to that the fact that 1/3 of the crowd at Protective is up out of the seats and in the concourse and you have a relatively spiritless atmosphere compared to Legion.

Tailgating and crowd enthusiasm were both better at Legion Field and I'm as shocked as anyone to be saying that after fighting to get what we have.

I feel the same way about PNC (was BBVA) Field. Just like Protective it is very nice but I miss West Campus Field and all the winning UAB soccer did there. Both new facilities are great. What's missing are the big wins.

I wouldn't dispute a word of that. I'm not defending the BJCC's "I really don't give a damn" attitude regarding concessions. OTOH, I remember some spirited and detailed descriptions of Legion Field hot dogs.

I don't know how you fight the problem of the Frozen 100 and the corporate seat holders not showing up. I heard a great suggestion, though, adding an ability to the UAB app to donate tickets that are not going to be used for resale. Let the ticket office sell the same seat twice. Put those choice seats out for face value and fill them with walkups or smart buyers.

If folks sitting over on the east side want to move their season tickets next season, I imagine there are prime seats coming available. Lots of companies bought them up when the stadium opened but corporations have been cutting stuff like that. Gonna guess even if they keep seats, a good many will reduce their number and some good seats will become available.

I sit in the sun mostly to save $200 on a pair of seats. That and while it will be hot for early season day games, it will also be the sunny side when it's freezing your butt cold.
