I wouldn't buy and didn't drink Bud Light before the political nonsense, and I don't drink it now. I don't mind paying for a good artisan beer. It's paying enough to buy two six packs for a single beer that I won't go for, stadium or not.

I'm with A.K.C.
Im flabbergasted by this thread. It's never crossed my mind to buy food at the concession stand (I guess that's why I don't know what prices are). The more kids I have with me (full disclosure, I only have one), the less likely I'd be to buy food.

But it definitely never would cross my mind to boycott season tickets b/c of concessions. It would have a MUCH bigger impact to have a stadium full of people who aren't buying any concessions.

I think there is only one person talking about boycotting tickets, not the entire thread. This isn't UAB's caused issue, it is BJCC. Punishing UAB is hitting the wrong place.

Those prices are pretty much a boycott by themselves. A lot of folks are going to look at them and say "Oh, HELL no!". They may buy today because they're hungry, but you can bet many of them eat heavy before the rest of the home games.

RE: Stadium Prices WTF
If the motivation was to get folks to games for our major sports, there’s a lot of things that would be different over the years. Scheduling, prices, operations, accountability, etc.

I would look at why certain promos they do run are unsuccessful. Hell, we were playing much worse football 20 years ago, and they were giving away gameday shirts.

One thing I can appreciate, I’ve seen some concerted efforts by the head coach that we didn’t see from Clark beyond 2017. Interested to see if Dilfer maintains that drive.

I wasn't. That's a big time brand as a sponsor.

The "it's a walk-around stadium with beer taps and good food everywhere, that's why people aren't in their seats" line doesn't really align with the "nobody buys concessions and beer at those prices anyway" logic....except for Stadium Club.

How quickly things start to fall apart when it's the BJCC and Sodexo managing it:

I wasn’t making light of the situation. But I’m not boycotting Jax State games if the food prices get too high. If we played a game at y’all’s place I’m going to be there.

But you can eat before the game. And I can’t imagine refusing to go to a game because of the beer prices. And I do drink.

Maybe I’m just different but I like attending sporting events to watch the game. If I get there and concession prices are higher then I like I just skip them. But my cheapness supersedes my need for a mediocre hot dog.

Well I’m not bringing my five year old into a stadium and 90 degree weather and telling her she can’t have water because the big meanies in charge are charging more than a case of water costs for a single bottle. My boycott isn’t going to help the fact that she’s thirsty. She also enjoys a snack when at a sporting event, and I don’t find that unreasonable.

I don’t even mind being charged an increased price at a stadium, but as I said in another thread, we are charging more than the Tennessee titans do for significantly superior products. The prices they are charging are through the roof and obscene. This isn’t your typical stadium food at an increased price.

RE: Stadium Prices WTF
Are the prices the same for Bham Legion or Bham Stallions? i haven't heard or seen this issue until UAB Opener. Are they just overcharging UAB?

I found this from Jan for the Birmingham Bowl

"Within the stadium, concessions stands are abundant around the concourse and offer many options. The area's history in the iron industry is recognized with Sloss Smokehouse offering BBQ choices, all for under $11. Crossroads Chicken Co. features a spicy chicken sandwich or an “Alabama White Corn Dog”, which is a typical corn dog but with white Alabama BBQ sauce. The Anvil Grill serves up more typical stadium fare with burgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders as their highlighted choices, and non-meat eaters will be pleased to know Beyond Burgers are available.

Alcohol sales are available throughout the stadium – domestic beers start at $8 with premiums going for $11, which include many local craft brews. Also, wine by the glass for $9 and mixed drinks starting at $13 are offered at Lady Electra's."

Also, major complaint from Bham Legion in March that BJCC had to eat major crow on

Also a throw back to original comments on prices in 2021 from blazertalk. When did Yo Mama's leave protective? I know the service time was dismal but the food was great

Yep from that last thread. $9 for Coors Light 20oz draft instead of 16oz. That's a good deal for stadium prices. $10 is still a bit high for craft options, but those are usually ~$6-7 at the brewery or bar so only an upcharge of $4.

I bought three chicken fingers, a modest amount of fries, a bottle of Diet Coke and pack of peanut M&Ms, and it cost me $27. Never again. All I’m buying in the stadium from here on out is whatever it takes to hold off dehydration. That’s it.

Even if the concession prices have absolutely nothing to UAB, it reflects poorly on UAB and makes us look bad. just another f*** up in a long line of them for uab it seems. It’s also another reason why this stadium does not feel like home, even 2 years later.

Boycott those gougers. talk is cheap. hurt their revenue.

This maybe my last year for tickets. Getting old and $15 for a $3 dollar beer is beyond belief.

I hope that you not renewing tickets is not based on concession prices that can be avoided.

I will continue to support the sports programs with attendance since that is a major issue with the program.

I hope and think BJCC or the City or whomever sets the pricing loses revenue over time.

as I walked around the whole concourse, I even noticed the stand alone bar lost all the TVs and the covering like they sold their equipment. looked pathetic.

all the good food choices like those shrimp/grits were gone. its really devolved.

You must not have a family of eight.
Then you would know

no they cause climate change

$15 is at the high end of NFL beer prices. We do not own the stadium and he vendors don’t think the increase in sales will justify a reduced price.

Fish and fries last year was, I think, $12 at the Yo' Mama's (even though it was wasn't labeled as such) concession area on the West side of the stadium. They are not there this year...
