Morris doesn't have a big multimillion dollar contract. Morris has a base salary of $900,000 with another $300,000 in guaranteed incentives. But his buyout is structured to pay 100% of Morris’ base salary ($900,000) for the first 36 months of the agreement ($2.7 million in total), plus 60% of his base salary for the last 24 months if he is fired without cause (an additional $1.08 million in total). If Morris were fired today, it would only cost UNT around $3.8 million dollars. That amount goes down by $900,000 every year after.
