Texas State's new coaching staff from last year's UIW is what happened. UIW was a high flying fcs team last year. Looking for good things out of Texas St.

Just under 9 minutes in the fourth

Incarnate Word and UTEP tied at 14, 4 minutes until half

Ok. St. now pulling away from C.Ark, 27-7. six minutes left in the fourth

USA hanging around with Tulane - TU 24-USA 17 - 7 minutes left in the third

UTEP dominates the 2nd half for a 28-14 win. UIW had 70 yards of offense the 2nd half.

UTEP had just over 30k for the home opener after losing last week.

On to Nortwestern next week. Will be watching Northwestern at Rutgers today with great interest.

That was a 3.5 point spread in favor of Purdue. BSU lost at home 56-19 to Washington. LOL

No, the game was at Washington.

Maybe we could have a separate forum where we could discuss the goings on of all the schools few fans have ever heard of.

Texas College was once a SWAC powerhouse. The alums from those days must be rolling in their graves.

They were? I did not know that until you mentioned it and I looked it up. I've always known them as a tiny NAIA HBCU in Tyler. How times change.

UTPB is coached by Kris McCullough. He is 28 years old, and has been a college head coach for two years already. He was the interim at East Central (OK) two years ago at age 26 and was given the permanent job there last year before heading out to west Texas this season.

University of Texas - Permian Basin located in Odessa. It’s right next to the Midland-Odessa International Airport. Many people have never heard of it even here in Texas.

They are kind of isolated in their Conference a bit. Angelo St, Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico would be the closest teams to them.

Central State, Ohio D2 24 Mississippi Valley State 21

VSU-NSU had an insane ending. All VSU had to do is run around in the end zone for 6 seconds to finish out the game. QB tried to go for it, ran out of bounds with 1 second. NSU set up for a tying 25 yard field goal, botch the snap, and try to throw the ball. Pass is picked off and taken back for a VSU touchdown.

The Permian Basin is one of the most prolific oil producing fields in the world. One of the pricing standards in the oil business is West Texas Intermediate. Its why the University of Texas is what it is. Texas was cash poor and land rich so when they founded the university they gave them some land in west Texas.

So in a sense you are right. Its name comes from dead dinosaurs producing black gold, Texas tea.

Thanks for the vote of confidence... Pissed we gave up that TD in garbage time. Three mistakes in the last five minutes cost us the shutout.

Not anymore, mostly. All but one game is played in Midland, and just the one is at Ratliff.

Yep. I read where they started playing games in Midland when Ratliff was under renovation.

The Midland stadium was nicer anyway. I'm not sure how it compares with Ratliff now. Remember, we're talking Texas high school stadiums, many of which are bigger and nicer than a normal D-II stadium. The Midland stadium seats 15,000 and can go up to 18,000 with standing room.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astound_Broadband_Stadium

UTPB wasn't a full four-year university until 1991. Prior to that, they offered junior and senior level courses. Odessa College and Midland College offered the first two years. It's similar to the history and relationship between UT-Tyler and Tyler Junior College.

Permian period was actually before the dinosaurs, it was the period right before the Triassic, hence my joke. 03-wink
