G-W looks so much bigger. I expected your D to be about the size of their O. They are playing really smart on offense. Hopefully you guys can adjust or get the last opportunity.

Well, we were all excited to see Burger, then Aguilar goes and probably wins Offensive Player of the Week for the Sun Belt. 4 TD's in basically one half of ball with only two incompletions and, I believe, every drive but one resulted in points.

I'm not sure the status of Burger but #4 earned #1. Burger's eyes were not even seeing wide open receivers in the first half. It was maddening.

I am blown away by breaking over 36,000 attendance figure.....

Showcasing valuable depth, reserves delivered some of the biggest plays during the 45-24 victory against Gardner-Webb in front of 36,075 fans at Kidd Brewer Stadium on Saturday.

My word, I didn't know it was that many. We had 34,000 & change for the Miami game in 2016. Big bad 5X national championship Miami. Now we are getting a couple thousand more for Gardner Webb. App is completely bucking the trend of attendance dropping across CFB by going up and up.

And that is after one of the worst seasons in the past 38 years.

Reports out of Boone say Burger broke a bone in his hand early in the game and was in a lot of pain. Surgery is being discussed.

I think he posted a little smack about our slow start, and then Marshall had a slow entire first game, only winning by 4 against their FCS Albany, putting it on karma

Congrats on the W. You guys had me concerned for a while but when I saw the score gap widen in the 3rd I knew you had taken control.

Yea, all the fire Clark birds were chirping through the 1st 2 1/2 quarters.
Still not sure what to make of this team yet, but I think we have found our QB of the future, which is a big step in the right direction.

People love having a reason to go to Boone. Especially during the late parts of summer. I lived in Charlotte for 20 years, nothing quite like getting up the mountain in early September and shedding the swamp air of the piedmont.

I think the university and high country have done a nice job partnering on this idea of “hey come on up to enjoy the high country and see some football”. The secret is/has been out on Boone.

The game shifted with 2:30 left in the 2nd. Didn't really show up just watching the box score but in watching the game, App's offense could pretty much do no wrong. One major issue was fixed from last year and that problem was getting pressure from the defensive line. I don't know how many pressures those guys had but the Michigan State and Rutgers transfers took over. Former 4 star recruit Santana Hopper also had a really good game.

A lot was encouraging about this game. The people complaining were also complaining in 2019 when App was close with East Tennessee after the 1st half and then gave up 40+ points to Charlotte. The next week they went out and beat UNC.

So a lot can be learned but there is quite a bit more.

Betting advice, take App at -14.5 with UNC. App has lost one time to a non-playoff P5 team by more than one score since 2014 and UNC is not a CFP team.

Took place this morning. Obviously a compound fracture as it was bleeding through the bandage in the 2nd qtr. Tough young man to hang in there as long as he did. People counting him out are fooling themselves. 7 of 11 & a TD with a broken finger on his throwing hand is pretty impressive. Made some really good scramble throws early on. Just glad Ponce put us on Joey while he was recruiting for Miami.

At least App might have found their QB. After watching the App soft pass coverage against GW in the first half, I'm almost afraid to watch against UNC next week. They say teams improve the most after the first game, so hopefully App will make the proper adjustments for next week. On a positive, lots of players got game time and the reserves played really well and might not be reserves going forward.

Watauga Dem reporting that Burger's surgery went fine and expected out 3-4 weeks.
