2 miles from campus. If you are going to talk about it, get it correct.

That extra mile does it?

Interesting...

Our off-campus stadium is 1.8 miles away, as the crow flies.

And our not-on-main-campus football practice facilities are only 1.03 miles away.

It's not "our" stadium. The same city that can't manage the city, can't limit violent crime & can't run an education system, owns & manages the stadium.

Lol

Lol

It's not "our" car or house until we pay it off, but we still use "our" or "my" to refer to them.

And even though we (the university) don't "own" the stadium we are the primary tenant. If we stopped using it what would happen to it?

But then again, I am a taxpayer of the state of Tennessee and Shelby County. I have been a taxpayer of the City of Memphis in the past and I contribute sales and gas tax to the city.

That means I have a stake in both the university and the municipal stadium.

So I think I'm OK with saying "our" stadium.

Ok but conflating our university & the city as one & the same has been part of the problem for years.

Not at all. Intellectual dishonesty is a cheap tactic and you know it. Do you not understand that when a person leases, they still refer to their residence or their vehicle as "my apartment" or "my car?"

With my financed car, I hold a title subject to a lien. We hold no title to the city's stadium & like both of your example we don't manage the property either. It's not "our stadium". We even plays 2nd fiddle on availability to the SHC game & to the Grizzlies for FEF. We simply pay rent to play in municipal facilities.

Atlanta's Social Interactions... A play in one part.

RandomFriend: Hey, let's go back to my apartment and watch the game. I've got a 90" TV. I'll grill up some burgers and we can make a day of it.

Atlanta: You know it's not your apartment. You don't hold a title to the building. You simply pay rent to be allowed to live there.

RandomFriend: Nevermind. Hey, anyone else want to go back to my apartment to watch the game?

Honestly, I think that has been more of a push by the university.

It's been noted on national broadcasts about how unique it is for a college sports program to talk about representing the city.

UofM pushes it in both football and basketball -- we are Memphis, 901, we just want to win it for the city, etc.

Maybe it was a conscious effort in an attempt to brand itself and hopefully draw more support from citizens and from government.

You keep missing the point. No one is confused by the ownership of the stadium. When people say "our stadium" they're referring to the fact that the school plays in the stadium, just like people say "my apartment" or "my hotel room" when they own neither. Regarding your car analogy, aside from the fact that it's sad you have to finance in the first place when last year you claimed you could donate a million to the school, but how is that even relevant to what you replied to? Are you confused by the concept of leasing a vehicle and how people refer to said leased vehicle as "my car?" In none of those cases are people under the illusion that they own anything.

So clarify, please. Are you really this slow or are you being intellectually dishonest again?

Back when I was the age that most of my friends had apartments, they kept charcoal grills on the patio. Guessing that is no longer the case? Some nicer apartments have communal grills.

Anyway, point stands. No one that isn't just trying to be a jerk is going to tell someone "his" apartment isn't really his, even though he lives there.
