Basketball will be fine for now. You can rest assured that the powers that be are going to try to change the NCAA Tournament so that only the big name schools get a seat. You can scoff at it all you want, but what's happening to Football will eventually come for Hoops too.

I disagree. We'll be fine in hoops. And the NCAA tournament isn't going to change.

Imo, we are much more likely to see a football Premier League of 32-36 teams who will crown their own national champion. And all other sports remain pretty much the same.

There are maybe 10 schools that can win a football national title and it’s basically been that way since about 1970

20 different national champions since 1970.

These still can:

Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Texas, Southern Cal, Penn State, Tennessee, Miami.

These can't:

Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, BYU, Colorado, Washington.

Academics? You can get into UCF with just a pulse and that may be generous. I love here and if you have a 3.0, UCF is your pick if you can't get into anywhere else

Which leaves around 100 schools not in the Premier League to play against each other. And as far as the tourney, you’re assuming the NCAA will still be around.

As a former player - you literally have skin in the game - put your size 13 up somebody's ass over there on Normal. Now is not the time to be patient and understanding. Do you understand what's happening? This is it.

Mobilize your anger.

We’ve done that to. To no avail.

When did we do that? In basketball since Calipari left we've missed the tourney more often than not, haven't advanced past the second round and haven't been nationally relevant unless we were getting into NCAA trouble. In football after years of being a laughingstock we had a brief run of good football that ended 4 years ago.

I mean. It's done for us. We may land in a slightly better conference. But in the end it's still going to have UAB in it.

What do we do? Accept it and stay in a spread out AAC that will be worse than the old CUSA? Go Indy in football and join the BigEast in everything else?

I’ll say this and I’ve been predicting it for a decade now. When the power structure breaks off they will be taking the BigEast with them because they need those teams and markets for basketball. It’s time for Memphis to get in the BigEast and either go independent in football or seriously consider dropping football altogether. Or maybe put it in the sunbelt.

Some of y’all may laugh or hurl insults. I’m as hurt for our university as anyone. It’s just time to accept it and move on.

I have no interest for college football anymore.

Sorry, but it’s not OVER until the ACC loses its top brands. We were never getting into ACC until that happened. CalFord are just buying themselves time for their next chance at B1G, & everyone knows the top of the ACC is just just taking the quick easy money bump now & will immediately jump once they have to fully share the ACC pie & they can afford to pay the fees to break the GOR & get paid their full market value in either SEC or B1G. Neither the ACC or B12 will get SEC or B1G level money, so there will still be ongoing realignment into the next decade it appears.

While it’s disappointing to see another conference member move while we are still left waiting for our opportunity. I do think the ACC’s move will allow them to survive & reload when the top brands leave, unlike how the PAC refused to expand or make moves to ensure their survival.

Yet the AAC presidents supposedly told espn no on adding Wasu and Oregon state.
That was beyond stupid. Only dumber thing to do would be adding army.

They're ranked #137. We're ranked #263.
Their acceptance rate is 36%. Ours is 85%.
Their SAT and ACT ranges are well above ours.

RE: The dream is over. Time for Memphis to accept it and move on.
With numerous teams in the ACC on the way out in the future, our chances of still joining a P5 still exist.

As frustrating as it is to watch conference mates move up you can't let it distract you from our goal, to win.

As we speak the college football playoff is on the table for us for the first time in the history of our program coming up next year.

With UCF, Houston and Cincinnati out of our way we have what it takes to be the most dominant AAC team there is in both basketball and football.

With the CFP being on line for the AAC Champion and us being at the front of the line in our conference, let that sink in.

We can't let these other schools moving affect our focus on showing up, being loud, and making sure our brand and university stand out with Championships and dominance in the American and beyond.

Our fans aren't weak we have grit and determination and we won't give up.

LETS GO TIGERS!

I lived in Houston for 8 months last year. It’s much safer than memphis and the amenities are about 100x better. It’s a huge city. It’s not comparable to memphis in any way. The diversity is really cool. Memphis is the opposite of diversity.

You're misinformed if you believe otherwise. My grandfather was a university President, and I know David Boren. My great-uncle was one of the founders at SMU. I've been around these people my entire life, and I know how these people think.

Any city that is 75% of any ethnic group is not diversified. Look up Houston. It’s like 30/30/30/10 between white, black, Hispanic and Asian. It’s really different from here.
Houston is the most diversified city in the world.
