Not a great start for the Runners. Offense moved the ball but couldn't close drives with points. 3 ints were costly. Special teams play was more costly. Defense kept us in the game.

Good job on beating Baylor!

Welp folks. So much for any aspirations of UTSA making an ny6 bowl. Unless we run the table the rest of the way, I think tonight those chances officially went down the toilet.

The american is only allowed 1-2 losses to make a NY6 bowl. Still hope.

Naah, you lost to a big12 school by three points. Your DL is stout. Your QB is great. Good coach. Clean up your penalties and you play in NY6.

Make no mistake, UH is a Big 12 School with an AAC roster. It will be a couple of years until we can truly develop into a B12 roster. That said, I did not expect to win that game so I'll take it. UTSA will be fine. Harris isn't healthy though. SMU and Tulane will be tough outs.

Totally the opposite game from last season for both teams.
I read this article last week stating that Harris not only had kneed surgery, but also ended up having a gnarly infection that could have turned for the worst and cause him to lose his leg.

I wonder if he's still having issues getting back in the groove after those surgeries. He definitely wasn't his old self this game.

Roadkill mostly . . . .

Roadrunners are nicknamed snake killers.

They will go out of their way to kill rattlesnakes and they also eat black widows

  • An obvious PI wasn't called on Houston in the 1st quarter.
  • We doinked a field goal.
  • The best player in the history of our program threw 3 interceptions in a row.
  • Despite Houston only getting a field goal from said interceptions, we commit the dumbest offside call which Houston turns into a touchdown.
  • We score a touchdown with would have given us the lead had we not committed that off sides.
  • We successfully force a 4th and 1 and force Dana to make a game deciding decision, only except the refs decided to advance the ball further than the spot, call a first down after that spot was short anyway, and also not give UTSA back it's now meaningless TO.
  • On top of that, we didn't schedule an FCS home game this year. Our easiest OOC game, our main rival Texas State, just ran Baylor off their own field and will likely have all of San Marcos invading the Alamodome next week.

I need more drinks.

I was at the Texas State/Baylor game. TSU dominated but it wasn’t that they looked great - Baylor looked hopelessly inept (and their tiny QB has a torn MCL). But the 6-7 QB for Texas State (LSU/Auburn transfer) is a handful. And their OL I guess is okay. Although again Baylor looked bad so I couldn’t tell if the Bobcats were good or if Baylor was just really bad.

Baylor could go winless in Big 12 play.

Some of our fan base heavily criticized our OC, and even Frank Harris, but I'm not sure how much we can conclude after one game about either of them. Harris had two surgeries in the off-season. I really don't think he's 100% yet. Arguably the best receiver on our squad this year, J.T. Clark, was a game-time decision and didn't play. He suffered a brutal season-ending injury last season and missed the last 5 games. Plus, UH's defense might be better this season; hard to tell after one week.

We definitely hurt ourselves yesterday though. Harris uncharacteristically threw a couple of INT's that were real head-scratchers. I felt that only one of his 3 picks was actually forced by the D. I felt the biggest mistake came late in the 3rd when we forced a FG after one of those Houston interceptions set them up in our territory (already in FG range), but gave them a first down after we needlessly lined up over the center. The penalty gave them a first down and they ended up scoring a TD; big 4-point swing, and big momentum booster. Felt it took us a while to recover from that mentally.

Big game next weekend at our Alamodome against Texas State. They played Baylor last year and lost 42-7. Makes their 42-31 win this season even more remarkable. Baylor is a mystery to figure out though. Aranda's in his 4th season at the helm there. They went 2-7 in his first year, 12-2 in his second and were ranked as high as #5, then fell down to 6-7 last season. Of course they're starting this year 0-1, so who knows what to make of them. Texas State has definitely improved though. Will be interesting.

Dogs, deer, armadillos, cats (bobcats too), and all sorts of animals that live on the ground are roadkill. So while technically accurate, it's very clichéd.

03-lmfao See ya next week Roadkill, and here’s to a good game. I expect y’all to come into it a little pissed.

No easy task trying to get a Win in that Dome. It’s a great venue for FB, the noise can be incredible, and a great Home Field Advantage.

They are our long time rivals and it’s game week with them. I don’t mind it at all tbh. I’m hoping that if Army says no, that they are the AAC next target. I know it won’t be a popular opinion to most in here. Maybe I’m just being selfish.
