Take USF off list. I am truly convinced USF will never be added to any power conference ever. Why do I come to this conclusion as a long time USF supporter?

Left behind when AQ Big East crumbled, when every other school found adequate homes in power conferences. USF was literally the only school out of 8 football playing schools that has not found a home, despite all the supposed advantages of media market size. Even UConn is in a basketball power conference. The rest all went to power conferences.

Left behind again, as the Big 12 expanded. Not even under consideration. Passed up by schools that USF used to be ahead of while in the Big East (they were in CUSA at the time).

Left behind again in the most recent upheavals by another school that USF was ahead of in the near past (SMU).

Left behind despite one of the hottest rivalries anywhere in the USF/UCF rivalry, which would bring the whole I-4 corridor to some lucky conference, which would be an absolute monster market.

I am convinced that no conference wants USF. I don't know why. The media market of number 11 or whatever it is doesn't matter. AAU doesn't matter. The fact that USF has shown that they can draw huge attendance numbers when good and in a power conference (50K average), doesn't matter, the fact they are opening an OCS doesn't matter.

I am totally convinced that USF isn't going anywhere and at this point, I do not care. Please take USF off any expansion lists permanently. If the past 15 years has shown us anything, it's that conferences simply do not want USF. They can't see past the end of their noses to see long term, and so that's fine.

Congrats to the others who have gotten promotions. I am done with realignment hopes. Washington State and Oregon State, we know exactly how you feel. I hope you get picked up by someone.

This post is reverse psychology at its best.

Not reverse psychology. What I actually believe.

If conferences can't see past the end of their noses and see the value of USF, I am absolutely convinced that power conferences don't want USF and never will.

ND for sure, it's only 3 more games. Right? RIGHT???

Just a guess. Unlikely the ACC would add another team other than ND. Don't ever seeing ND joining the ACC in football.

If ACC ever moves to a 9 conference game schedule. Then they could move to a 2-7-7 model which works great for football. In addition, 18 team bracket would be easier tan 17 team basketball bracket.

If the SEC ever goes to 9 conference games, look for the ACC to follow along. That is if the ACC is still around.

17*9=163 163/2=76.5

Odd number conferences can't play an odd number of games unless a team chooses to play 8 or 10 games while everyone else plays 9 games.

Well Darn, I hate when math gets in the way. 04-cheers

The days of caring about divisions, schedule balance or schedule matrix are over. The only numbers that matter are dollars.

These conferences are too big to play a double-round robin anyway, so "second-matchup" in basketball is going to be determined by TV anyway.

Even if they DID got to 21 members, they're not going to give up Duke-UNC on TV a second time just so they can each play Cal, Stanford, SMU, Gonzaga, UConn, and Tulane once per season

I realize that. It's obvious to anyone with half a brain.

Crazy to think USF was in BE football conference 2.0 when UCF was in the MAC.

USF now in AAC 2.0 while UCF in the XII.

There will be more opportunities though down the road yet.

UCF moved from the MAC to C-USA in 2005, the same year that USF moved from C-USA to the Big East. UCF was never in the MAC at the same time that USF was in the Big East.

That's right.

I seriously doubt it. But then again, who just three years ago would have thought that SMU would ever get into a power conference again? Even Houston getting back into the power conferences seemed like a longshot.

Anyway, USF was the all time biggest beneficiary of realignment by getting invited to the Big East during their 3rd year of having an FBS program (and their first year in an FBS conference) and their 7th year of having a football team at all. USF really has very little to complain about-they only have suffered from realignment after being an incredible beneficiary of realignment.
