Everyone forgets the strangest one of all, from ESPN, a crawler in 2011 which announced Florida State and Clemson to the SEC only to be recanted 3 days later. The back story there is a Duesey.

You're right. I don't remember seeing that at all. But at the same time, it would make sense considering the current rumors about Florida State and Clemson potentially joining the SEC in the near future.

I am very skeptical this ever happens.

We're talking about Stanford and Cal brokering a deal with the ACC.

Is there another group of institutions anywhere that have a worse track record at handling deals?

It seems much more likely this falls apart.

When was the last time this board didn't produce multi-thread, overlapping discussions on conference realignment rumors? At times, this board resembles a pack of bored, rich housewives gossiping at a hair salon.

That aside, this "rumor" is picking up steam nationally with legit sports journalists. When it stays on the level of MacGyver Blogger then I don't tend to pay it much attention.

Which is fair. I'm just saying with the whole "will they or won't they?" crud we went through with the 4C schools the past thirteen months, I'm hesitant to believe anything until it's been reported by the three outlets I mentioned. (I realize I should've explained that better in my original post. Sorry about that.)

No apologies necessary. If true, I don't expect this to dally long. Too much is hanging in the balance and time is of the essence. You probably won't hear as much nationally and on this board in another week because - thank the Lord - college football season starts. EDIT - check that, it starts this Saturday!

High School football already started for me, I was at a game last night!

All the drama over the offseason has been entertaining, but it's time for everybody to figure things out and focus on the season.
