Our Air Traffic Control System is Breaking Down
Lots of 'near miss' incidents are occurring. ATC is understaffed all around the country, leading to forced overtime, fatigued controllers.

Quote:Commercial airlines in the US racked up staggering 46 'close calls' in last month alone - with one American Airlines flight to Dallas traveling at 500mph forced into abrupt 700ft climb to avoid United plane

- Dozens of close calls in July are part of an alarming number of near-misses in the US this year
- Federal Aviation Authority reports reveal such incidents are happening weekly
- Human error is often to blame and a shortage of air traffic controllers has been blamed

If they raised the age limit, it's a career I would certainly consider. But ATC program is capped at 30.

One of my good friends is an ATC at Charlotte, which is one of the busiest airports in the world for daily flights (but not passengers).

He works 6 days a week on lots of variable shifts and long hours.

He’s burnt the **** out. Just massively understaffed.

The one-world-government people don't care. They don't want us flying anyway.

I had ATC families near my home in the Chicago area. Their work is so stressful. They struggle to relax when off duty.

The pay is good and the early retirement is great, but everything else about that career seems utterly miserable to me.
