He says the quote, but a simple tweet with only those words is taking him out of context if you listen to the interview. It sounds like he was actually being sincere. Conference realignment these days is about survival. You have to be somewhat aggressive when a conference is vulnerable with schools you'd like to add or it could come back to bite you later on down the road.

The PAC had AT LEAST 3 opportunities to finish off the Big 12 and specifically Stanford and Cal's Presidents vetoed every opportunity. Karma is a b1tch and those 2 Presidents are 100% to blame.

Would Yormark take the kill shot now and merge the PAC into the Big XII?

One thing: BY was public and intentional about Big 12's expansion appetite.

As he said, these moves were not made under the cloak of night like some others, such as:

SWC leaving 4 behind who thought they were merging with Big 8
Pitt/Syracuse abandoning the Big East for ACC
UT/OU to the SEC
USC/UCLA to the Big 10
et cetera

In the previous 10 years who was better than those 4? Boise is the only one questionable, but it was post their amazing run in the 2000's. Cincinnati, UCF, and Houston all had runs in the top 10. We already know BYU was well overdue for an invite to a power conference. I don't see anyone else besides those 4.

Houston basketball has been fantastic, and UC basketball is historically a top 10-15 program.
