Exactly. What changed other than a title? How is an employee of Garland "Independent"? According to the code, a "Special Counsel SHALL be chosen from outside the government". I don't think Garland is very good at Law.
Qualifications of a Special Counsel

(b) The Attorney General shall consult with the Assistant Attorney General for Administration to ensure an appropriate method of appointment, and to ensure that a Special Counsel undergoes an appropriate background investigation and a detailed review of ethics and conflicts of interest issues. A Special Counsel shall be appointed as a “confidential employee” as defined in 5 U.S.C. 7511(b)(2)©.

Pretty easy when one team doesn't have to play by any rules. What exactly can "The Republicans" do about Garland appointing a Federal Prosecutor that has been "investigating" Hunter Biden for over 4 years to "Special Counsel"? Who is supposed to tell Garland a "Special Counsel" has to be Independent and not part of government? Hunter still hasn't been indicted. Clock is ticking on the crimes he committed. He already got off on the money he made from Burisma because Weiss sat on his hands and never indicted him over not claiming the income.

“We will find what’s out there and immediately report it to the White House and DOJ so it can be covered up.”

“Sorry but that witness cannot testify in front of congress. He is currently an asset of the SC.”

“Call material witnesses in and intimidate them.”

“Run out the statute of limitations.”

“Find evidence that it’s all Trumps fault.”

If they charge him and a few others with conspiracy as long as the last overt act is with in the statute of limitation they can still be charges. I dont think they will do it but conspiracy rules gives you the ability to go back in time.

conspiracy is the government catchall and its put most people doing time in prison . I would guess 75% or more are in federal prison based on a conspiracy to commit "____"
