UC forgot to include name tags for the presser LOL. Chad did a zinger on Coach Satterfield's lack of a tan in the first interview. Coach didn't look too amused.
I'm excited. We are in extremely uncharted waters with Satterfield leading the charge. Not to mention the step up to B12 competition.
As far as prior HC comps for Satterfield, I guess it has to be Tuberville. But just listening to Satterfield speak he is light years better than Tuberville. So I'll reiterate, these are un-charted waters. May not be great this year but at least it will be interesting.

Other than the southern accent where is the comparison?
-Tubs was a defensive minded coach, Satterfield is offense.
-Tuberville was more of an “executive”, delegating the coaching duties to his assistants. Satterfield designs the offense and calls the plays on offense, the OC is basically the assistant OC.
-As of right now, the assistant coaching staff is much superior to what Tubs had here. Tubs basically hired guys that had been GA’s the year, especially after that first group of assistant’s bailed.
-Tubs made his bones coaching in the SEC at Old Miss and Auburn. Satterfield came from Appalachian State and tried to rebuild a down Louisville program.
-Satterfield is a little younger than Tuberville. Also, Tuberville was on the downside of his career He already had a title at Auburn and no secret he had aspirations to either become an AD or go into politics (which he did). Satterfield still had a lot of prove in the coaching ranks.
My position is that the defense will be good enough to keep us in games if the offense struggles. An offense, by the way, that I expect to be much more imaginative than last year.
I think Satterfield knows what he's doing offensively. I just hope it's cohesive enough early in the season to not get off to a bad start.

I think this is fair. To me the biggest question is going to be the offensive line. This staff likes to run the football, running it 60% of the time at both Appy State and Louisville (conversely UC ran the ball 48% of the time last year). Satt says he feels comfortable right now with 5-7 guys but we need to build depth. I think tackle is the biggest opportunity area right now. If we can’t block we are going to have a hard time running the football.
FWIW, I saw some imagination in Louisville's offense last year against UC and it excited me. Of course coach-less bowl teams are hard to evaluate, especially matched against one another. Still, Louisville looked better prepared and maybe more talented. And some of those coaches are now on the UC staff so let's hope all that bodes well for year one in the B12.
I like the quiet confidence that CSS has without coming across as arrogant (BK), cocky (BJ), aloof (TT), or a d!ck (LF). Also seems to have a pretty good sense of humor. Hope it translates to a lot of victories.
Watching these videos, you can tell these coaches are a little apprehensive of going to Higher Ground. I'm sure the value will become apparent quickly once they get it rolling.

Bolded, yep I picked up on that too especially our head coach. I recall Brian Kelly having the same reservations and then doing a 180 on it after preseason #1. Do I recall correctly that Brian Kelly then floated a trial balloon about Notre Dame using it--or a similar retreat center?
While I've never been to Higher Ground for UC's camp, I've attended some other functions out there. It's a beautiful spot nestled in those wooded hills and the food and accommodations are quite good. I'm guessing this coaching staff will be energized by it too once they experience it firsthand.
I liked Briggs' not taking the bait on the starry eyed question about the B12/P5 level of competition by pointing out that Tulsa had NFL caliber linemen as well.

They had two OL taken in the 2022 draft including Tyler Smith who went in the 1st round to Dallas and wound up starting all this past season and named to the All-Rookie team.

Yeah, I think most of that apprehension is because next to no colleges have something like it, so it is incredibly different than what they've been doing for decades as coaches.

Yeah makes sense to be apprehensive about it.
Looking at it from an outside perspective I see so many positives. 24/7 football and around each other for 2-3 weeks depending on school schedule and year. Learn a lot about yourself and your teammates when there isn't much else to do, and you are grinding and facing adversity with each other every day.
I can't think much of a better culture building activity during actual football season which for this year specifically will be huge and moving forward with the transfer portal.
Coaches and now Louisville transfer Dorian Jones have a lot of praise for LB Jack Dingle thus far. Looks like today was Louisville transfers media day lol

I consider last year to be a wasted season. Questionable coaching. Undisciplined players. Generic offense.
But when Fickell bolted for Wisconsin it all made sense.
Jones will keep defenses honest. If he's even an average passer our offense will be worlds better.
One thing I will keep my eye on are stupid penalties. How many drives did we start out 1st and 15 last season due to a pre-snap penalty. Seems like a lot. I can tolerate aggressive defensive penalties as well, but there were a lot last year that were clearly bad on our part. Who can forget all the helmet infractions against Arkansas? That should never happen.
Just cleaning stuff alone will make the offense more efficient.
Looks like Satt is a fan of higher ground one practice in lol.
I’m liking what I’m seeing so far. Don’t want to get ahead of myself though as they are just interviews and it’s early in camp so I’m just going to bump up my prediction to 7 wins. Need to see the team in an actual game or two to really get a feel but I like the culture thus far and the players we have.
