If the B12 goes over that number, ESPN is contracted at $20m but Fox is not and would need to be negotiated
Where are you getting the one slot from? One is what they'd need to get to round 14, but they signed a pro-rata clause with FOX, right? Can't they go to 16 if they needed to, or did Fox put a 14-team ceiling on it?
They could end up with 20. Yormark wanted 4 now, but backed it up to two a few weeks ago. If the four corners are ready to roll he'll gladly go back up to 4 (16 total).

how is this going to work in rural areas with dsl as the fastest option?
That's a question for the Sun Belt board.

I'm not from there, but I once lived in rural Stanly County, 40 miles from Charlotte. We would have killed to get DSL. And no cable either. Or water. Or sunshine. Except on alternate Tuesdays.
The DSL, cable and water part is true.

clt bets you had well water, a septic tank, sat tv, and boost mobile at that time?

The PAC will have autonomous status, but no conference is guaranteed an auto-bid in the new 12-team playoff. Plus, the PAC's presidents aren't going to agree to a long expensive GOR. They all want out now. So, that deal could be further reduced as more programs exit in the coming years. SMU and possibly another AAC program have a lot to think about.
Yeah the pac could end up just being another MWC. This is an opportunity for Aresco to get creative here. Could be opportunities.
1. Merger
2. consolidate into new conference.
Standing pat would just be settling for going in reverse.
Joining the Pac at 10 ml might still be better depending on who stays (Wash St, Oregon St) and 10 best of the rest G5's. All the streaming is what turns me off.
You never know. Conferences seldom work together. At least The American could possibly offer the PAC linear ESPN coverage and earlier start times with a merger, but they probably still believe that they can poach our best schools, and remain above us.
I tell you what though, no PAC school will be on television anymore. Just let that sink in for a minute. It's an unbelievably bad turn of events for that conference
As unlikely as that hypothetical situation is, you do realize that a merger like that would most certainly put 100% of OUR games on ESPN+/Apple and all the PAC games would end up on ESPN.
When it's all said and done there most likely will only be 4 PAC teams. Maybe just 2. That's 8-10 G5's going into the PAC.

Pretty close. Except I was subcontracting for a company in Charlotte and they wanted everyone on Nextel. No reception at my house.
Beautiful country though, rolling hills with forest, horse and cattle farms.

Aresco doesn’t look too dumb now extending the current deal an extra 2 years.

Don't forget, the playoff payout has not been determined yet, I'm sure the SEC, B1G, Big12, & ACC aren't going to want to pay this new PAC what they will earn. That is where the PAC could be weeded out from the other power conferences.
And bowl ties are going to come up again soon too. This new PAC is going to have a rough couple of years.
By taking six teams last time who could we add now? We're handcuffed now.
I think we can still add two programs. Three is SMU still leaves.
If The American loses two, and the MWC loses four, we may still look more attractive to Air Force and Boise than what's left of their conference.
If not there's always Army and Liberty available. Those two will always have an easier time consistantly competing at a high level than SMU and Tulane.
I still think it's more than likely that The American ends up with all of the service academies under one banner. That would be huge coup.

I'd actually like all four. Go big. Grab Air Force, Boise, Army and Liberty. We can handle 16. Throw in Hawaii too for all I care. They're great for recruiting and for an extra game on the schedule.

Those teams didn't want to come when we had UCF, Cincy, and Houston. Now they would accept an invite to play the bottom half of CUSA? Are you guys serious?
My brain hurts.

They aren't going to want to stay behind in a conference with San Jose, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, UTEP, New Mexico State, North Dakota, and New Mexico.
Our lineup looks much better than that, and there's more exposure in our timezones.
Boise State
Air Force
UTSA
Rice
North Texas
Tulsa
Memphis
Navy
Liberty
Army
FAU
South Florida
Charlotte
East Carolina
Temple
Alabama - Birmingham
This collection of schools is more competitive than with SMU and Tulane, no offense personally to their respective fans.
