Thornton: Transfer safety from Clemson/USF added
Ray Thornton, safety, added to roster as R-Jr. Former Clemson signee and contributor. Transferred to USF. Looks like a player who has the talent to make this years safety rotation. Good length. Definitely a position in need of more depth and experience. Pleased to see them add a transfer safety.

Getting Thornton is HUGE, and also picking up DL Elijah Williams from Thompson is a pretty big deal too. He can play.......had a lot of P-5 interest before his SR season injury.

Agree. Williams had SEC and other P5 offers his Jr year but those faded away after the injury. Big body with some height. Run stopper from his tape.
This eclectic staff can definitely recruit and win press conferences. Very curious to see how they develop players, plan and coach their schemes to fit our relatively mid range talent level in the AAC, and particularly how they call a game on both sides of the ball. Not much, if any, data at the NCAA level for Dilfer and coordinators, for us to have a reasonable idea of what to anticipate once we kick off the season. And how fast will this staff learn and adapt from the inevitable early gaps and mistakes? Learning curve at the staff level might be nearly vertical for a few games.
But very intriguing. Mark swung for the fence on this one, and the early returns look promising, but much to be determined.
