That’s going to cost a bunch of money.

More seats in same space means less legroom.

Pyramid 2.0.

Legroom was one of the reasons we built forum in the first place.

No it wasn't. the nba demanded a new arena to relocate here.

The NBa didn’t. Heisley did.

No difference to me.

Yeah, I think it's semantics.

We knew no team was going to relocate here to play in the Pyramid, when every city that we were competing with had either recently built an NBA ready arena or was going to do so to lure Heisley and his team.

So whether we offered or the NBA/Heisley demanded is somewhat moot - I think it was assumed.

Pyramid was undone. Too bad it wasn’t done right or completed. Not enough suites is what hurt more than anything. Acoustics were also terrible

The worst sounding concerts I've ever attended have been at the Pyramid. It was beyond awful.

Before my time, but I heard about an infamous show at The Pyramid in which Alice in Chains opened for Metallica that was pretty rough. Layne Staley playing with a broken arm all drugged out and Metallica having all sorts of sound issues.

Oh, yes the Pyramid had terrible sound. I can still feel the ice pick in the ear pain I got everytime Taking Care of Business was played. That opening guitar lick was brutal. Nothing but treble in my ears.

Hank Jr was the first show. Guns N Roses was not long after that and when they discovered they had a huge sound issue.

They fixed it step by step and by the time I saw Aerosmith mid 90's it was a lot better.

No, The Judds were the first concert. And one of the water mains busted towards the end and some of the people in the floor seats suddenly had wet shoes.

Then I think the first big rock concert was Guns N Roses, but it was after the holidays. I think it was early January and way below freezing and all these teenage girls were walking around in goth halter tops.

A young lady in our friend group worked at the marketing firm for the Pyramid and got us free tickets to all the early events. I wasn't a country fan at the time, but had to admit that The Judds were ok.

Depaul was the sports opener. On ESPN which was a huge deal at the time.

RE: Calkins: Is there enough cash for the Grizzlies and the football stadium? Maybe not.
November 9, 1991 - Wynonna (left) and Naomi Judd opened The Pyramid as part of their farewell tour. The city's newest landmark drew more than 15,000 people for the debut of the $65 million facility. Near the end of the warm-up performance by Billy Dean, water spewed through the floor drains of restrooms, flooding the east side of the arena level. Water aside, visitors said they enjoyed their visit to The Pyramid.

Dec 2, 1991 Van Halen/Alice in Chains (but chains did not play)

Jan 7, 1992 Guns n' Roses / Soundgarden
They played nirvana between sets, everyone went crazy

https://www.concertarchives.org/venues/t...cert-table

Grateful Dead in 1995 was a big event

Oct 02, 1998 Page and Plant / Lili Haydn (then we burn down the north end)

Aug 04, 1999 Black Sabbath (could not hear for days after this show)

lol... I'm not a country fan, but a girl I was dating wanted to see the Judds at Mud Island, so I went. I agree with you, I was pleasantly surprised. Good show.

The first concert I went to at the Pyramid was with another girl I was dating. It was Luther Vandross. OK, she was HOT so I went. Sinbad opened. He was freakin' hilarious.

Sinbad is hilarious and seriously underrated, but Luther?!?! She had to have been amazing and I hope you got lucky after the show.

That show, Sinbad's humor was clean. I was surprised that he was that funny without getting into profanity and filth.

That's right. I was working there but it was 30 years ago. Definitely remember the bathrooms backing up.

That's one of the things I appreciated about his comedy, and also how he engages the audience as part of his routine. It doesn't have to be full of expletives -- Richard Pryor -- to be funny.

It was pretty wild. Not the grand opening the Pyramid wanted.

I remember all the people with the floor seats having to get up to the next level up to use the restrooms.

The first rock concert was Van Halen. The sound was awful until they out in those acoustic drapes a couple of months later.

Redbirds suspend play due to poor field conditions tonight. Autozone Park is a shell of what it once was and needs love, too. I’m afraid our days of having a Triple A team may be numbered
