SBC 2023 Football Rankings
Trying not to post here but because I have kept up with this A-State team, wanted to post my final thoughts here so I could revisit them at the end of the season.

Here are the combined rankings, with teams A-State plays in Bold.

All Division
1. Troy – 92 Points (10) (Away)
2. South Alabama – 85 Points (4) (Away)
3. James Madison – 78 Points (4)
4. App State – 75 Points (4)
5. Coastal Carolina – 71 Points (3) (Home)
6. Marshall – 68 Points (2) (Away)
7. Louisiana – 64 Points (Home)
8. Southern Miss – 62 Points (Home)
9. Georgia Southern – 52 Points (1)
10. Texas State – 36 Points (Home)
11. Arkansas State – 33 Points
12. Georgia State – 31 Points
13. ULM – 20 Points (Away)
14. Old Dominion – 17 Points

While Texas State has had a good year in the Portal, I would have picked A-State ahead of them.

A-State has a great home schedule, and like last year they have enough talent to more than just compete with any SBC team.

Butch Jones has made a concerted effort, and he feels progress in addressing the depth/youth issues-especially in the offensive line, that cost them so many games in the fourth quarter last year.

Barring a lot of injuries, I would be surprised if they don't win more than they lose at home, and could or rather should pick up a win on the road.

I'm also predicting A-State will be the most improved team in the SBC this year.

Hopefully. Butch has made enough progress in implementing his culture with his returnees, and new transfers , not to have put players on the field before they are ready.

RE: SBC 2023 Football Rankings
Prior to last season Butch said 2022 would get their fans excited about 2023.

2022 did not happen- primarily because of some ill advised personnel decisions Butch made in a few games putting, "his" players on the field before they were remotely ready, and that got them beat, but the 2023 team Butch was talking about is there. Those that watched them this past spring did express excitement in what they saw , which was a much improved team.

The key game this year is again Memphis, who has more talent than any SBC team.

Had they beaten Memphis last year, they probably would have had a season that would have gotten their fans excited about 2023 and beating them this year will go along way toward making the 2023 season the kind of season he was talking about .

That team is there, Butch knows it as do those that saw them this past spring.
