Not mentioned, but I hope our return game and punt team is much better than it was in the Clark era. Hell, we never tried in the return game. And then I really don’t want to see us starting on our own 30-45 ydline on defense anymore.
Speaking of, the previous Special teams coach was the first one to empty out their closet and sell everything on Facebook. Good riddance.

UAB was pretty good at coverage, great at punting, excellent (vogeltron) to average on PK. Vogeltron put almost every kickoff through the end zone for a touchback. We got spoiled by that. UAB was pretty good at blocking kicks, too.
But we were just gross returning punts and not much better returning kickoffs unless JJ was back there the entire Clark era. We didn’t really even try, we just played it safe most of the time. Wilson was OK I guess. Starling should have been a lot more productive.

Agreed. I felt like we were the only team that didn’t even try to field a punt or kickoff. Didn’t we have a player who was known for kickoff return TDs in high school?
Hopefully Dilfer lets the returner actually return it.

Greenwell was solid in putting it where it needed to go, we just didn’t seem to ever find it to pin opponents back.

Damien Miller. Probably was his ACL injuries, but he couldn’t have been any worse than Thomas who had the same injury. This is why I wanted to hang on to Chris Pearson in the ‘23 class but he ended up at Houston, I think.
Didn’t make sense to have Grayson Cash as a career backup safety when he was scoring 3-5 TDs a game in HS. He could’ve played return team, scat back, or slot receiver
