Tennessee Football Penalties
https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...ources-say

Over 200 violations (18 Level I) occurred under Jeremy Pruitt, who also received a heavy show-cause penalty. The school received an $8 million fine and a reduction in 28 scholarships, but was not hit with any bowl ban.

The $8 million is the largest fine for an infractions case.

As I've noted previously: Thank goodness this was not Memphis.

Hey, they weren't relevant for a long time. Had to do something. Step up the cheating.

RE: Tennessee Football Penalties
...I figure at this point, bowls are so 'locked in' and needing teams (read: fans) in their games that the NCAA may not even use that as 'punishment' anymore...

...now, they COULD note that any monies received by a bowl appearance are to go to the NCAA, which could get interesting if a team made the playoffs under that condition... (insert money emoji here) 03-drunk

Tennessee gets in trouble for doing what is considered legal now in the era of NIL.

Doesn't bode well for Pruitt ever getting another job. He got caught cheating at a historic level, yet still was a sub-.500 coach. Cheaters get rehired as long as they win. Cheating AND losing? Doubt he ever gets another HC job in FBS.

RE: Tennessee Football Penalties
I had a few beers yesterday with a very good friend who is a huge Tennessee Vol fan. I purposely did not mention the Pruitt fiasco — curious as to if he would instead (my buddy, to his credit, does a good job of being constructively critical of UT sports).

He didn't mention it.

Regarding my friend's silence — and to use a term JRSec recently deployed in a post regarding Yormark and possible Big 12 expansion: "telling"

RE: Tennessee Football Penalties
The way I see it, a resurgent, top 10 level Tennessee is good for college football. A bowl-ban would have knee-capped last year's resurgence, so I am glad they got punished with something they have plenty of - money.
