UC fans have always been active on these boards, even when I lurked. They're simply posting more and showing more enthusiasm because much like UCF and Houston, they're finally in a lake and not in a pond like they were in Conference USA about 10 years ago. They are, for now, part of the P5 conversation until there is no P5.
That being said...I would hesitate to say that they are arrogant or rotten enough to warrant a thread like this, and even if they were, such a thread isn't needed. This does nothing more than stir up the hornets' nest.

I know that there are others on this board who hold similar views but, it seems, that fans of the Cincinnati Bearcats are most adamant on passing judgement on other programs and conferences.
A few questions from me:
- Do you think the way the program has been treated in history affect your views on the entirety of college sports in general?
- Do you believe that you are best qualified to pass judgement on college sports in general?
- Do you think that your program is getting the respect it deserves today?
- If conferences were organized differently from what has been done currently how would it affect your views on college sports in general?
- What would you change about college sports today?
It has nothing to do with respect or passing judgement.
Cincinnati has been thrust into the middle of conference realignment discussions more often than any other school, so we have discussed it amongst ourselves more than any other large fanbase. That has lead to more educated and nuanced discussions than, say, a Kansas or Oregon fanbase who is just now discovering that these things are important to them.
For your 4th question: UC fans are fans of our school, not our conference. So the landscape is less important to us than it is to other fans.
To answer your final question, the only thing I would change about college sports is to go back to 1980s Big East style basketball refereeing with a 40 second shot clock. Basketball was more fun to watch when it was a physical game rather than an unstrategic 3-point contest. I trace the declining importance of CBB directly to those changes.
You trace the game’s “declining importance” to the establishment of a rule that made the game more exciting for television? Interesting take.
No, I trace to several changes that were aimed to make it more exciting for television, but failed miserably.
These rule changes made the game less physical and more about speed.
However, faster people does not automatically equate to more excitement. If it did, then track & field would be the most popular sport, and sports like golf and MMA wouldn't be so popular, and women's volleyball & tennis wouldn't be more popular than the men's equivalent.
Most of the changes were changes in emphasis rather than outright rule changes, such as calling touch fouls. The only actual rule changes that impacted this were eliminating hand checking and putting the shot clock so low that shot selection is a thing of the past.

Personally, I'd like to get back to jump balls instead of "the arrow", and like Phog Allen wanted, 12-foot rims.
This thread was supposed to be about us and UCF again comes barging in and takes it over.
Apologies, did not mean to derail the thread, my national championship mention was meant as a joke after watching the Clint Foster videos on the Big12 board.
